I've noticed a pattern lately where I get one lump on my face a few days before getting symptomatic. It looks like a mosquito bite, red and raised, but not itchy and not a pimple. It doesn't hurt or anything, just a random lump. It's only ever one lump and it's always on the face. It lasts a few days and goes away and in its place come the aches, chills, low grade fever, etc. Does anyone else get this? The exact same thing happens to my dad so I don't know if it's just something unique to us or if it happens to most lupies. And what is it?? I'm going to call my rheumy tomorrow since he wants to be updated on anything new and since this has happened two or three times now with a pattern, it's time to call.
Hi.I’m new to board.
I just had the same thing happen to me. Started with small tiny welt on face for a few days. Then I got many bites on body that were surrounded by serious brusies!! My Lupus attacts my blood vessels all the time! The minute I have a increase in blood pressure, I will bruise!
The tiny welt on my face was not a bite, but just like you said…a tiny welt, fever, aches, etc. out of no where! I learn new things everyday!
hi! Yeah!it’s. Time to make that call…Beverly L.
Me too
Oh my never noticed! But I woke up with 1 this morning!!! Had a bad melt down yesterday could not stop crying. So probably bigger flare coming…ugh. I have been in a never ending flare for 2 years. IIS there really a state of remission? And if so, what does it feel like?
Hi reallyraffy, after 2 & a bit yrs of initially Cutaneous (skin) Lupus then S.L.E. I was advised 3 weeks ago that I'm in remission.
So far I feel sharper & clearer every few days; have not used my walking stick for 4 weeks; do not 'lurch' about with strong cramps across my back; swelling in feet, knees & wrists has eased significantly, vision has improved a little. However I still feel ill; frail (somehow) & not particularly 'well'.Lesions on face still none in scalp but some behind ears & new ones on neck. I guess now I have to 'win the peace' & get my stamina & strength back & hold off the next flare for, - oh about ten years! Meds are still the same, still have M.G.U.S. Osteoarthritis etc etc. I'm advised my best next step is exercise, weight loss & 'clean' food. Trying to push myself a bit more every few days; but it is hard to judge how much to push. Currently I have a mad, dry, barking cough & am a bit dizzy at times with oral thrush to round it all out!
I wish you well & hope that remission is soon for you & that it sticks for quite some time. Kaz xo

OMG i havent met anyone with the same drama I have yes it gets hard under and sometimesinfection sometimes itches and hurts sometimes. I am now on Plaginill(spelling??)it seems to help a little I got told off by docs, I was told it is Lupus-and not scheraderma. I thought of that when I looked it up. I use witch hazel to calm it down and everything else in the book I use acne cleaner only becasue it is a deeper clean than normal and clean and clear medicated cream or a very light cream antitoxic. . yes stress does this-sucks!! I never had in california-dryer climate-but have definate bouts here in Missouri-ongoing raised bumps going on and on and on healing when it wants-Ive tried everything this is crazy sht. a dermatologist is a great one to see-hope they don't accuse you of picking on your face Like I was-it dose look like I use crack sometimes though-haha- but I cover with makeup so Idont look or feel like a freak.. Ive been battlin gthis for about 4 years now. tell what youve learned ok, best of luck--- my skin has changes soooo much it is not cool
most likely your lymph glands but always show to your doctor!!
I get the same thing, but I have two spots on my face. One itches and the other doesn’t. They are in the same spot every time.
Doctor-man says he's not sure about the welt since he didn't see it on me, but it may just be how I present. I'll have to take pictures next time I notice one. The nightly fever I've been getting and the aches and chest pain is just inflammation. He put me back on Voltaren and told me to give it two weeks to kick in and then call him to update him. Or call him if anything changes or worsens before then. Other than that, just rest periods, plenty of fluids, and keeping up with medications.
I have timid lupus that's how my symptoms started, it was diagnosed thru skin biopsy, you should get tested by a dermo that understands lupus, not all of them do. in the meantime stay out of the sun, if you must get a good sunscreen. i take imuran to keep it in control, but get tested i waited too long and i had those welts on my face, arms and back. hopes this helps
sandy
I guess I should mention that my facial bumps are tumid lupus also! I was dx with cutanous tumid lupus first through a Biopsy of one little red Spot that look like a bug bite on my upper left arm. I demand the dermatologist take the biopsy. Then two years later I was DX with Systmic lupus. I agree with Sandy, get the red spots biopsied to rule out or dx cutanous lupus.
Deenie
I also get those same bump(s). Usually one on my face, one on neck behind ear & one on arm or torso.
I Also get bumps behind my ear along my hairline toward back of head (lymph node area). Guess I haven't ever put 2 +2 together & notice it as an onset of a flair - due to fact I feel so crappy all the time. Actually broke out with my misc bump(s) 2 days ago & yesterday evening 101.6 temp and everything was in full force.
Guess I better get that added to my list of note for my next appointment.
Thanks for pointing this out.
