Yesterday , I had a really bad flare day with the aches and pains and dizzy and vertigo and my usual left side of my face and left eye swollen.....but last night something really weird and different happened.......I was on my laptop and suddenly it looked like smoke rising from my keyboard and moving up the screen, about two-thirds of the screen was white smoky looking.........and it was not my computer ....it was my eyes.............this really freaked me out. I just had my eyes examined a couple of months ago and everything was fine....I am wondering if this is part of migraine syndrome which I have with lupus but have never experienced anything like this !!!
I get visual disturbance from time to time and they are from optic Migraines. It scared the livin daylights out of me the first time it happened. I see ripple effects such as water rippling across whatever I am looking at, or a Kaleidoscope of what I describe as a white diamond cut with several sides. I lose sight in one eye or the other but never in both. I never have a headache when it happens. My eye doctor said it may be a cause of lupus inflammation.
Here is what happens to me! See the below website and on the right it shows you what happens mine looks like the bottom example(the field):

I also get the smoky thing too, usually when I am on the computer or watching TV. I would talk to your Ophthalmologist about this.
Hope this helps you…Deenie
THANK YOU Deenie so very much for this info....I know I am not alone and not going crazy LOL ....I guess this is just something new with the lupus......:)
