I have lupus sle does anyone have numbness in their feet or tingling? Please help it is driving me crazy.
Sometimes some of my extremeties go numb and i get that tingly feeling. The other night I woke up with my entire right leg and foot having gone numb. It was the first time it ever happened covering a large part of my body, I freaked out and tried rubbing life into it and it was fine. I'm not sure what causes this but your not alone it.
II have the same problem.. I wish I could help
It is extremely annoying. Wish I had answer for you.
Is it only happening when you are asleep? I usually sleep with my feet elevated on a large wedge shaped pillow if I’m sleeping on my back. If I’m on my side I put a pillow between my legs and drape my arm over another one, it seems to help. Perhaps it’s due to pressure points in your mattress so maybe a fluffy down mattress topper might help, I wouldn’t know what to do without mine. If it’s happening when you’re not sleeping I would mention it to your doctor, it may be sjogren’s or a circulatory issue. Hope you find something that works
Hello I have the same problem with me feet from time to time. When it occurs it can happen for weeks at a time. The doctors didn’t know why, the checked me for diabetes and a few other tests but couldn’t find a rhumb or reason. Sorry
Hey Lia Mason! I would suggest telling your Dr. Because numbing and tingling can be a sign of a pinched nerve. Depending on the location of the numbness and tingling your Dr. Will know what part of your spine needs to be imaged. I had numbing and tingling in my right arm and hand and my Dr. Ordered a cervical mri and was able to diagnose the problem. I have lupus, sjogrens, and Ra and my numbing and tingling wasn’t related to those. We have nerves that run down our spinal cord that can affect all of our limbs. Best of luck to you take care!
I dont have it in my feet but the right side of my face and my mouth r numb and tingle all the time, this has been going on for almost 2 yrs non stop and ive been to every kind of dr u can think of and had just about every test and no one can figure out whats causing it.i hope u have better luck.
Hi Lia,
Yes, I have the same problem with my feet. Days I have it so bad I can't stand on my feet. Other days not too bad, bearable. I started this 4 years before my diagnosis of Lupus. I went to numerous foot doctors, regular doctors, and many specialists. No one would find anything. I was prescribed special shoes that were very costly and nothing helped. My rheumotologist says I have neuropathy in the feet and have lost feeling in both feet at the tips of the toes. I not longer work and every day I have to see how I feel and do what I can. Some days just doing the necessities is all I can do, other days I can go beyond. Soaking them helps some times. Putting them up helps some times. But doctors do not give me any other help. Hope you can find some relief that helps you. I know what your going through. I'll pray for you.
Hi Lia Mason,
I suffer with the same symptoms in both feet and also in my legs, mainly my right leg. Do you happen to have Raynauds Syndrome with your Lupus? I read that the numbness and tingling can be part of the Raynauds. I do take a Tumeric supplement which helps a little bit. I have also found sleeping with a pillow under my knees helps some too! I hope you are able to find something to give you some relief.
Take care,
Stacey
Before I was diagnosed I thought I might have MS because I often couldn't feel my feet. Now I use magnet insoles which kind of weight my feet down and this helps....Also I wear boots even in the summer.... Yes, it is very annoying.... So sorry you have this issue. LupanCatwoman
I’m going for MRIs next week also trying to rule out MS. I have numb and tingling and pain throughout my left arm, lesser in my right, and occasionally in my legs a burning sensation. I take gabapentin too. My doctor just increased the dosage to which I had a negative reaction. But at a lower dose I tolerate it but it hasn’t helped in a while.
Thanks everybody for the love and support I really appreciate it,
Yes, I do. The only thing that has given me temp relief is going for reflexology. I have nerve damage from the swelling I had in my feet and legs.
I take gabapentin for this. It helps a lot. I sympathize with you on this. It definitely makes it harder to sleep. I would ask your doctor about gabapentin.
I have had this. It's gone now but I had it and I did not like it one bit!
Do you know what caused it?
I've got the same thing going on doesn't matter if I'm sleeping or sitting on the couch, I've learned to ignore it and just be really careful when I stand up I have ceramic tile throughout the house and it really smarts when you hit the floor. No one could tell me what causes this, I figure its just nerve damage the only med ever offered was lyrica but it turned out I couldn't safely take it so it was stopped I've had this for a long time, if anyone knows what it is please let me know.
I have total facial and mouth numbness. Was told for 3 years it was trigeminol neuralgia. In June I was a scleroderma specialist who told me my symptoms are classic for that disease.
