Swollen Glands in my neck

I would like to know if there is any body eles who gets painful swollen glands with there lupas out of nowhere, they thought that i might have an infection and put me on antibiotics, but they dont help. Its been going on for months now and even an increase of steroids didnt help it. I had a catsscan done and it was normal. Does anybody eles have this problem?

see i get strep throat constantly, and even when the strep test comes back negative i still have a very sore throat that can last for weeks at the time along with the swelling in my glands. But it just comes and goes. Its weird.

Hi Christie,

The cause of your swollen glands also can come from Lymph nodes also...i had one removed from my throat as it got bigger it was upsetting my breathing, then i had another operated on twice by my ear and since it ws removed last year, another 2 are forming in the same area....they can become very uncomfortable.

I have the SAME problem! I have had strep throat over 5 times just in the last year and I always seem to have sore glands…not neccessarily a sore throat like strep, but my throat is always sore to touch around my glands.
I wish I had advice, but I’m wondering the same for myself. It is NOT fun. Just know you aren’t alone!
If you find out what’s going on and you don’t mind, please let me know. I’ll do the same!

I get swollen glands in my neck from time to time and I was told it can happen from the lupus. I can also run a low grade fever with the swollen glands too. You said steroids don’t help. What kind of steroids. Have you tried a dose pack of steroids? I take a dose pack of merdol and it seems to help me. But like Terri said, she had to have hers removed. So maybe steroids are not the answer. Maybe a good ENT may help you.

Good luck and take care!

Hi Deenie,

Your right mine started off like a pea but as it got bigger and started blocking my airway at times, it came out just abit smaller than a golf ball and it was ENT that sore to mine...these things can't be ignored especially anywhere else besides the throat because if they get to a certain growth Lymph nodes burst out the skin...which happened on my face, then they had to operate twice as poision got left in, Lupus does cause these issues and need dealing with appropriately xxx

Hello Christie,

Here's alink to a thread just been added by Tiffany about swelling and also lymph nodes and i added pic's and what can happen if left to long to grow to what size they do before something happens...so i am pleased your going.

Concerning the throat, you can see the swelling as they get bigger but it's all according to where it's situated in the throat but the lymph nodes are only another option on what it maybe. xxx
