Hi Everyone! Since you have all given me so much great advice and have been so supportive I thought I would ask for your experiences once again. This time it's about rashes. What do your rashes look/feel like? Do they pop up randomly? Are they itchy or hot?
Here are my experiences:
My rashes come on randomly and they are either just red itchy rashes or rough bumpy rashes.I also get hives. The rash on my face is never itchy but I can feel when it gets worse because my face becomes hot (not to touch, on the inside). Does this sound like any of you?
My face gets really red and hot after a few minutes under florescent lights.....and I even have a hat on !!!
My rashes are sporadic and start by itching and then soon break out in the itchy bumps.....I always put on some hydrocortisone cream and they don't last very long, usually just a few hours.
I only have the facial malar rash thus far. It feels like either I'm overheated or I'm blushing hotly. I get pink, and when it's strong, my cheeks radiate heat that is perceptible from the outside. Sometimes I can feel the rash down deep, feeling like I'm warm on the inside, though my cheeks are cool. It never seems to affect the texture of my skin, however. I can't find a pattern of when it happens at all.... for a while it was mostly in the evenings, but I think I figured out that that was due to a strip of sunshine to the face in the late afternoons at the puter. (Moving it has resulted in less evening patterns of malar rash.) I did once notice that direct sunlight made my face flush badly, but still no texture difference. No itchiness or irritation with it either.
Different rashes all the time. Sun rash more like hives itchy on arms legs. Sun rash by ears and hands itchy prickly heat. The one on my hip is like a huge hive painful and itchy. I think that is stress induced. Benadryl is my friend. Compresses for face and head rashes. Wash pollen off before getting in bed( cause that won’t help anybody)
I’ve gotten rashes with viruses as well as just being nervous. Good luck Sweetie
I have 2 skin dieases. I have SLE and Lichen planus. My rashes are small red bumps and just red patches. I have a new rash. There are 2 patches on my back about 6" in diameter. Went to PCP on Monday for my REALLY EXTREME fatigue. She sent me for blood work and then looked at my rash and said it looked like shingles, but I knew it wasn't because I had shingles. Went to my dermotologist Wed and she took a biopsy and more bood work and said she's almost positive its Lyme disease. I learned one extremely important thing-- go to the right specialist.
My regular rash is good some days and bad some days, but it's always more red after a shower. It's not usually too itchy but I have a salve for that which works great.
You have to learn to expect the unexpected. Hope this helps you a little.
As you can see everyone is different. I wear long pants and long sleeve shirts from now til september, and a big hat and sometimes a parasol. Vanity is gone, you need to do what's best for your skin.
I get rashes on my face, chest, hand and arms. The sun and heat are not my friends. Sometimes the rash on my arms and face itch. For me they normally last a while, about a month. Actually right now I am having a flare of rashes. Using RX cream from my dermatologists along with taking prednisone (along with other lupus meds). Be sure that you protect yourself from the sun at all times. I was told by my dermatologists that I have to wear my sunscreen while inside also. If you have to go out big brimmed hats, UVA/UVB sunscreen, long sleeve. I even have to protect my hands while driving because of the sun. Good luck!
If you look at my page, I have pics of my facial rash. I also get a rash on my chest and my arms. Most of the time they are hot and sometimes they itch. It varies.
I have rashes right now. Red, bumpy, super itchy rashes. At first i thought they were ringworms because i googled it and photos showed rashes like ringworms. Then I consulted a doctor. Doctor said they were hives.
What I wanted to know is how to get rid of these. Is this connected to having lupus? I want some straight answers. Doctors couldn’t answer me.
I have stopped eating gluten and I am reall careful about the sun and I have not had any rashed since last summer. I did have a terrible reaction to hair dye and had to get a shot and prednisone pills. It was awful. I think it is from the Lupus but you won't get your doctor to say that one was. The rashed you get from the sun are awful too.
Before I was diagnosed, I used to get these tiny blisters on my left arm only. I couldn’t figure it out. Once I was diagnosed and told I also have photosensitivity, I figured out what was the cause. When I would drive, I had my window down and rested my left arm on the door and the sun would hit it and give me the blisters.
Good afternoon everyone. I am fairly new to this site but reading about how we all suffer from having rashes makes me feel not so alone. I have a rash all over my hands, arms and torso. Summertime it spreads to my legs. I have red cheeks and nose almost all ths time.i often get told I have a great complexion. If only they knew. I do save on makeup though, not needing to buy blush anymore. Lol. I wish for all of us, healing. Thank you for letting me share.
Michelle...I may be the rash queen...at least in my area...and within ALL the people I know. My rashes seem to appear randomly...and begin as either heated red areas..or totally colorless white spots. THEN they blossom into various shapes and sizes...some very raised like blisters...some smeary looking red areas...and some like poison ivy or oak. Mine have been SO visible and bizarre that I have had Dr.s take pictures of them...and am scheduled for a biopsy in July. There is a product by a company called " It Works" which sells amongst many other things, something called "herbal wraps"...and also a product called defining gel. These two products are the best thing I have found in over a decade...that diminishes the rashes fast and keeps them gone for a good 6 to 8 weeks. Stress, sunlight, high pollen, or exhaustion tend to allow the rashes free rein. I also get sores in my mouth...something like ulcers..but not exactly like ulcers...and when I am really flaring...on my scalp too. When the sores get raised too much they tend to bleed. Yuk! Good luck to you.
Hi. Ok I will just chime in with my rash experience. I get the facial rash everyday and I do feel it coming on. My face gets very hot and flushed. Definitely more at night, not sure why, but perhaps from the sun in the day. It’s not raised and I’m thankful for my skin texture thus far (glass half full.) I also have a constant rash on my hands above and below my knuckles, hives or what looks like bites that don’t go away without Hydrocortisone and then start to itch! Last, but definitely, not least, I have horrible Livedo Reticularis. Looks like lacy red rash all over arms and legs. One of my new medications (Quinecrine) seems to be helping with it not being so pronounced. I hope that helps!
Ollievy, I get a rash every evening. My wife thinks it’s from the stress of the entire day. I was on Quinacrine and all it did was turn me yellow. My Rheumy took me off of it.
I am a random rash girl too. If out in sun with tons of sunscreen or under shaded area my arms , face & neck break out. Ones on my arms are bumpy & at times itchy (or itchiness is due to me being swollen head to toe). Currently have a cluster of raised bumps on top of Right wrist. My face gets red - not bumpy- feel like I am embarrassed but when touch my face it is cool however inside of mouth feels like an oven.
