Malar Rash!

Hi, I have been getting topical Chemotherapy on my face, to get rid of some pre-cancerous spots, it has set off my malar rash! My face is bright red, I look like a big red butterfly!

I go back to see the dermatologist Thursday, I will see about getting a non steroid cream for it.I am not supposed to put any cream on it, until everything burns off, but it stings something awful!

I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for you having to suffer from this. It sounds like a very nasty case of sunburn, though of course, it's not. And there really is no way to ignore a nasty burn. What a shame that you have to wait until Thursday to get something. What about a spray-on pain relief? Would that be allowed?

The good news is that its not too terribly far until Thursday. And if you can't wait, can you get your dermatologist the prescribe the non steroid cream over the phone?

Good luck on Thursday. Please keep us posted.

I hope the dermatologist can order you something to help. Please keep us posted I will be thinking of you.

Thanks, I may call tomorrow, I will see how I feel. The first week, I had very little reaction, so she gave me something to open the pores first, that is when I started to get a bad reaction. I have been very careful about going out in the sun, and I am using a SPF 60, my face was totally white with the stuff…

I once put something on my face that ended up giving me a rash all over my feet and legs ( which are always swollen and red, so they are worrisome). I got one of those prescription where you take a lot and work down of prednisone, and I will never put a neutrogena product on my face again. I had rash all over my face, too, and it was red and turned hard and scaly. I guess I must have touched my legs? But I tjink it just went through my bloodstream. It looked like it was all over my le

Hi,
Just read the message, You are probably right I will call tomorrow. The skin on my face is like a shell, it has turned hard, shiny, and red, I have a lot of pain. It offers like it may crack if I smile… This is a known side effect of 5FU, they said it may take a. Outlet of weeks to resolve the condition. Another website said the 5FU can cause Lupus symptoms, so I imagine if you already have the symptoms, it will just be worse.

Went back to the Dermitologist, she said it was all a normal response, and that I will have a new face in two weeks. I am now putting sav on it, after cold compresses, helps a lot. It would be nice to let me know beforehand what I would be dealing with, so I would not be alarmed if my face started cracking and bleeding…
