Hi everybody I need to know if anyone has experienced numbness on legs that runs up to your arm and then travels to your face to the point that it paralyzes you unable to walk and talk? This has happened to me for the last few days I thought maybe I was getting up to fast or something but it’s staring to bother me because each time it seems to get worse. Before I was diagnosed last year that’s how it started numbing and cramping of one leg and arm my right side first then my left it was so painful and would only last about a minute and some but felt like forever and like a seizure and this now is similar but when my face starts tu numb it feels like my mouth is starting to twist to the side and unable to speak. if this has happened to anybody let me know what it was please. I called my doctor but have my appt till March am going to get lab work done Monday but just don’t want to end up collapsing or something while with my 2 year old so please help me if you have some insight thanks.
By the way it’s my right side was scared it could be a stroke or something but it’s not the left side it’s the right.
I would go to ER if I were you, it could still be a stroke, best to check it out, as soon as possible.
Good luck!
Thanks Jon for the reply that’s what I was worried about but I forgot to put it’s on my right side not my left. Plus it’s been reoccurring 2-3 times a day for the last 4 days could that still be a stroke waiting to happen or small one’s? I don’t know bit it does worry yet my rhumy’s assistant told ne to get the labs done first and call at the end of the week for an appt in the waiting list. Unbelievable right but what can you do. ;(
If it was a stroke, you would not be here after 4 days, so that can probably be ruled out, unless they are micro strokes, those only last a short while.
Could be a pinch spinal cord in your neck, but that would probably be on both sides.
I really think you should go right away and get it checked out. The problem with neuropathies like this, if you catch it right away, they maybe reversible, but if you wait, it can cause lasting damage.
They need to do some blood tests, and MRI and see what is going on.
Good luck, hope you get help soon!
Jon
Here is the info of a TIA mini stroke:

I’ve had numbness in my arms and legs but never my face. I’ve had three TIA’S but with those I just had severe headaches followed by disorientation and memory loss. If you’re worried and can’t get an appointment sooner, I’d go to urgent care or the emergency room. They usually do the tests tight then so you wouldn’t have to wait as long.
I too think the ER is the way to go. Is it a reaction to medication maybe? I would not wait anymore to get to an ER. I am surprised the nurse did not tell you to go there. Best of luck and let us know.
Hi, I have numbness and tingling in my right leg and arm almost all the time. I have also had it occur on the face occasionally but not to the point that I was paralyzed or couldn't talk. Just the issue with the face was scary. I definitely think you should have it checked out sooner rather than later. Have you talked to your GP about it? They may be able to get you in sooner and start the testing process. Good luck and let us know how you make out. Hugs!!
You are having problems with your nervous system, which may be caused by Lupus. I agree with the other responses: go to the Emergency Room of the best hospital in your area.
I have a friend who experiences this every few days and it's worse upon waking up. She went to find out what was causing it, and found that she has MS (multiple sclerosis) along with her lupus. I hope yours is something easy to cure, such as just lacking a certain vitamin or mineral. That's very scary stuff.
Hello ladies, I don’t have lupus but I do have similar experience with tingling fingers and toes on my left side. …and a deep nagging ache all down from my left hip to ankle. It is constant. I cannot stand or Walk for a long period …have to sit down. Occasionally, my left toes will curl up and cramp - damn painful. I practically have to change my lifestyle.I have been thro many doctors - orthopedic surgeon, neurologist, pain management and physical therapist…and finally, I found a Chiropractor who actually helped me.He did a decompression treatment on my spine since the 4th and 5th lumbar had collapsed and had pinched the nerves. I see him once a month or as needed now and the numbness and tingling is virtually gone. I still have the nagging ache IF I am on my feet the whole day…but I will take this improvement over the rest.
What I am sharing here is perhaps all of miaht consider looking for a good Chiroprator… becos your symptoms sound pretry similar to mine which is due to dislocated discs in the spine. Of course, you should always talk this over with ur doctor first.
Correction: …all of you might… ( darn auto -check! )
I agree with everyone that you should go to the emergency room to be checked out ASAP. If for some reason you can't, then can you see your GP? Mine has some space set aside for emergencies every day, so you could call and tell the receptionist that it's kind of an emergency but you can't go to the ER. Worth a try.
Here's one more possibility: you might be having complex migraines. They are just as the title suggests: complex. Some people have migraines without even knowing it! You can even get one in the stomach, not the head. I know that one type of complex migraine can give you stroke-like symptoms. I will try to find a source but may not be able to, as I'll be traveling on the road for several days. But it may be worth your effort to look if I can't.
I dearly hope that you get answers ASAP. Really, those symptoms are nothing to fool around with, as your rheumatologist seems to be doing. Of course, he may have his reasons.
Please take care and seek out medical help as quickly as you can. And please keep us posted!
Yes, this is true. And I believe that it affects one side, not two. We can get other auto-immune illnesses too, unfortunately. Hopefully your rheumy has already tested for it and ruled it out. I thin that MRIs are taken.

You need to go to an Emergency Room asap, strokes can happen on either side, please don't wait and see get medical attention.
Thanks to all of you for your replies and unfortunately it’s not my rhumy he is always very atyentive and tells me to fo see him as soon as I start having pain again or something it’s his staff he is so overbooked that they simply tell me he has no room. Yesterday I had 5 episodes so I will call again of I get the same answer the I will go to the ER and by the way what is a GP? Is it a General Practioner like a PCP? Becauae mine has no idea or experience with LUPUS patients need to find another one my Reumotologist has 40 years experience and is great guess that’s why he is so overbooked thanks again and will keep you updated God Bless.
Well if you go to ER, have them call the Rheumy, they will get through to him better then you…
Yes that’s what I figured thanks again for all the good advice you guys are God sent just like my rheumy will keep you updated and God Bless.
Yes Mary, GP and PCP are usually your family Dr. How I wish we all had a rheumy like yours. The rheumies and neurologists I've net have been the most cruel people I ever met.
