Earlier today I was fine, then all of a sudden the fatigue hit me like a ton of bricks. Worse still was the brain fog that came over me. It was like I was too tired to think straight. I fell on the bed and was asleep w/in seconds. When I woke up, it was storming very hard. The fatigue was better and the brain fog seemed to have lifted. That seems to happen every time it storms. I wonder why that is. That ever happen to anybody else?
That's interesting, I don't have the brain fog but every time it storms I get really fatigued.
Never thought about the relationship between the two until you mentioned it.
Probably barametric pressure the change in weather always bothers us in one way or the other
Lord thankful to know we are in this together !!! The fatigue does seem worse when it storms. And brain fog anytime sucks but I notice it gets worse if I am tired or have overdid it for the day. Naps do seem to help.
Wow. Do you live in Vegas? We have had 2 days of on and off storms and have had virtually same response. Fall asleep in the middle of a conversation. Plus sudden high bp, red face, super achy, etc.
The good news is that the weather changes. Also, you can prepare if you have a half decent weather forecaster.
You can use warm baths, heat wraps and just rest to help you through. These seem to help me. I am lucky that we don't have harsh weather often so I definitely can say there is a connection.
Hope you feel better soon.

Instead of a ton of bricks, I feel like I've been hit by a freight train. Storms really get to me as well, and a nap is the best thing for me.
Yup! Storms get me every time! We now refer to me as the human barometer. Rest is the only thing that seems to help. Severe temps also have a similar effect!
Yes... The change in the barometric pressure always seems to affect me - change of seasons, temperature changes, etc. My Rheumatologist says it is common.
Yes, fast weather changes lay me out flat and change my symptoms from hour to hour. Same with my Mom who also has lupus. Barometric pressure is a big influence on us.
Boy I am so happy to hear that everyone has the same feeling when a storm comes in....I asked my old Rheumatologist and he said no it should not have any effect on you....well he is wrong...I live in Vegas too, and boy I know when a storm comes and goes....
I never meant to get so over joyed about people getting so ill when a storm comes in but I am just glad it's just not me....
Wishing you all nice weather....
My body knows when it’s going to rain. I get very tired and feel aches and pains. I also have trouble breathing and use an antihistamine, prescription nasal spray and inhaler. Rainy days, humid days and high temps can definitely be hard on us.
I get fatigue like that regardless of the weather. Like you, it goes away when I sleep it off. But right now I’m currently weaning off Prednisone & it’s happening a lot.
Bern,
These last few days have been a mess, haven't they. Half of the day sunny then out of the blue, literally, here comes the rain clouds. Hope you feel better soon. Never thought I would wish for our usual triple digit temps and glaring sunshine :)

It is most definitely not in your head! I just wish all these storms in the South East would quit!!

I have sudden fatigue too and I can fall asleep in minutes. And I never seem to be able to get enough sleep. And the brain fog? OH YES......Doesn't matter whether it is storming or not for me though.....
Hi! LoL, the things we ,Living with Lupus go through!!!..Beverly L.
I thought it was just a me thing because I have always been sensitive to the barometric pressure.
I’m also very sensitive to changes in air pressure. With me its chest tightness and leg pain…I am the local weather expert…way more accurate than the weather station.
I’m also very sensitive to the changes in the weather. I have a titanium rod and screw in my leg and had a double back surgery and a bum knee. Needless to say, I can always tell when weather is coming. The fatigue is killer also. I live in NY about an hour from the city…on Friday it was 104 degrees. Yesterday morning it was in the 50’s. this weather is bizarre and really messing with me.
I was born and raised in the Bronx. I know how crazy the weather is. I remember those incredibly hot and humid days and the buildings that just seemed to make things so much worse! So glad I live in SC in the country now :)
