Cornea thinning/Numbness of Toes/Chronic Constipation

I am currently waiting to see a rheumotologist, but I keep getting more strange things that I think may be related to autoimmune disorders. I have not been diagnosed, yet. I recently found out that the cornea in both eyes is thinning. I have lost 20% in one eye and 5% in the other. My eyes are sensitive to light and I am having quite a few headaches. The opthamologist suggested possible autoimmune as a cause. About the same time, four toes on the same foot became numb for 36 hours. The other foot became numb on the top. Since then, the numbness occurs after getting out of the tub. For several years, I have had trouble with chronic constipation. However, it has worsened to the point where I am taking prescription medication daily to help with motility. On weekends, I have to take significant amounts of Dulcolax to get things started. I have to wait until the end of November to see the doctor. I am wondering if any one has had similar issues and if so, what type of diagnoses they received.

Thank you,

I saw your post and wanted to give you a suggestion about the constipation. You may want to start taking a probiotic daily to help get you moving again regularly. Cut out dairy and gluten from your diet. I was having so many problems with my stomach and that is what worked for me.

I have episclertis is my eyes and I have some visual issues as well. When I am in a flare with lupus I have a hard time opening my eyes in the sun. I have to wear very dark polarized sunglasses all the time because of my photosensitivity to the sun.

With the toes and tops of your feet issue I am not quite sure what is going on. I have vasculitis and that causes me to have numbness and swelling in my feet and legs. Neuropathy can play a part with numbness so I would talk to your rheumy about all of this in November. With vasculitis your skin doesn’t like hot water. So maybe is it the hot water in the tub that is affecting the feeling in the tops of your feet.

So sorry you have to wait almost two months to get an appointment.

Best of luck and let us know how it all works out with the rheumy.

Hello Thankful,

Reagrding your eyes i have primary episclertis and also complete dry eyes besides my vision going bad and this as been caused through Sjogren's syndrome which usually follows Lupus...actually the opthamologist would have know this but because you've not been diagnosed yet may have held it back and that's why autoimmune was mentioned....besides sensitivity to light which i have also do you ever feel like you have grit or sand in your eyes besides?...we do have a seperate site for the sjogren's if you want to join also to look at the discussions which may give you a widder view on all aspects involved with Lupus.

www.sjogrenssyndromesupport.org

With how your functioning in your system besides you can get IBS and coeliac Disease if you are Lupus related or without Lupus...i have IBS nd take spasm tablets and Lactulose daily to help me function and i've found eatting better foods and drinking water as helped such a great deal.

I suggest asking for a nerve test regarding your toes, to see if you have any damaged nerves but there also sounds a possibility of raynauds Disease also...there's quite alot of issues which can be causing this but to me and you mentioning water and having raynauds myself...it sounds so much like it.

Thank you for checking on me. I have received several helpful posts, but my home internet has been down and I have not been able to respond. I am doing okay--I am on a call-back list, so I hope I will get in to see the doctor, sooner. I am still in the process of reading all the links, so I should be able to add more later.
