My knees hurt so bad they are red, hot the touch and itchs so bad !!!!! Any ideas or help!
Hello firelady,
I suffer with my knee's swelling and burning and it's the heat causing them to itch with irritation...if your able to get outside let the air get to them as it helps the hotness besides painkillers, ice packs help besides.
This link may help besides.
I hope you get some relief soon. Hugs Terri xxx
Try putting ice packs on your knees...or even a cold cloth..I know its soo hard being sick at work.Hope you feel better!
the ice does work... you can get one of the kind filled with lavender and another product to hold the cold in...just place in freezer at work as soon as you get there. Take about half hour to get it good and cold. You can buy ice packs that you just twist and they become cold as well.
Be very honest with you, I hurt very bad at my old job too. Now I wish that I had been more honest with my Rheum doc about how the pain was so bad I was crying before work and as soon as i sat in my car to go home. I tried hard to wear positive mask while at work like many of us do.
If i had been honest odds are he would have put me on pain medication other than anti inflammatory drug since I was already at the point that motrin was killing my stomach from all years of taking it. Eventually after quiting my job since i felt i just could not do it well as i should do to the pain and fatigue(as all know pain all day/night just wears you out) i went to pain specialist on recommendation.
We tried about 7 at least of different kind of pain drugs and finally i used a patch. It worked the best and i did not need to write down when i had taken my last pain pill or be tempted to take another because I still hurt.
As i was saying..if i had been more honest and got the pain meds i needed i could have worked at least few more years....which would be few more years that i would have kept my self esteem at being able to take care of myself.
So talk honestly to your doctor..see pain specialist or even PT person might help..but get help. I still believe motrin works the best. I was on 800mg 4 to 6 per day. I think i went up to 1000 eventually at same number per day...but it did take away pain or most of it.
Another large problem i noticed was working in air conditioned buildings than you go out heat ..it was on average over hundred where i worked in summer..dry heat but still contrast was hard.
oh i also did hynotherapy which you can use while at your job and it also helped. She the person who taught it to me, use to stick her hands in ice water...Knees are bit hard..i would stick my feet in ice cold streams that came out of snow glaciers while hiking to numb out my feet. only took few minutes and they could have done surgery on my feet and i would not have felt it!!
I just read some where ..oh Arthritis today on knee replacements...how to extend doing it. It might have been AARP one of the two..and just withing last few weeks so this month. It has some interesting new things that might help as well as new surgery for knee replacement.
tens unit might work and acupuncture has been shown to help too. Figure if they can do surgery on you with just acupuncture needles in right place maybe it can help your knees.
Speak to your doctor and be extremely honest...be assertive as well so they hear how much it hurts and that they must do something about it NOW! good luck
Its hard enough to work im sorry to here your in pain i take pain pills to work with me incase of a flare-up tylenol extra strength
I too have bad knees, and the ice packs are great to cool them .
Has your dr prescribed any rub? I use Voltaren and it has been a wonderful help. It is an anti
inflammatory gel and goes right to the problem. And it doesn't take much but is a prescription.
When you are able to sit down, elevate your legs and put a pillow under your knees.
Ouch...I hurt for you...so sorry
Faye

Hello everyone I have knee pain also, it has become a real problem in my life. I have been disabled because of them, and can not walk without a cane. I have been advised by my doctor to see a ortho in order to have a knee replacement. I have to be honest it scares me to think about surgery, I have had bad experiences in the past with other surgeries, the pain has got so bad it has altered my life, so I need to consider it. I don't feel comfortable going out anymore, I really relate to knee pain it affects your life.
Hello Rose,
I'd consider the operation if i was you...i get the swollen knees and burning and when i walk mine feel sometimes like they're going to buckle on me, my hubby as said sometimes when i walk it look like i'm drunk.

Oh my firelady , i can imagaine how you feel !!! I WAS a waitress at the Waffle House for years and when i first started having PAIN, my legs would feel as though a trackertrailer truck had ran over me !!!! LOL LOL LOL . But that didn't stop me at that time to stop working , it wasn't until one nite (working 3rd shift ) i dropped 2-3 orders on the floor and clocked out . Feeling very hurt by this i knew something was going on ( being a waitress 4, 20+years ) , u can think how i felt . But anyways make sure that you let your doctor know how and what you are going through , my pain was coming from the first stage of artheries and fabamagalia ( both words maybe misspelled -smile ) - avery bad combonation of the two along with the early stage of LUPUS !!!! There was nothing i really could do - tried everything and NOTHING WORKED until the doctor gave me the meds that i've been taking since Feb. 7, 2011. Sorry if i didn't give... Beverly L.
