This healing process seems like it is taking forever. I had my hip surgery in april and I'm still not able to walk on my own, it seems as if my leg doesn't want to get strong. I've been doing my exercises and walking like i was told and i was thinking by now i should be walking normal again. I'm getting a little frustrated depending on other people and not being able to drive where i want when i want. Has anyone ever been through a hip replacement and if so how long did it take you to recover?
I have not had hip surgery, but I took care of my grandmother when she broke her hip. My grandmother was an exercise instructor and follower of Chinese medicine. She also had osteoporosis. It took a good year for her to get back to "normal". I know that you are frustrated, but you need to be patient. Keep exercising as much as you can, and hang in there. You WILL heal, it just takes time.
Having lupus healing could take longer. I had kidney removed and it took longer to heal but I pushed self and ended up in hospital with other issues for over wk. I also had teeth removed uppur and its been two yrs and still cant wear dentures and not healed up and major issues everyday with moth. Same with other knee surgery takes time. Healing is longer with us crazy beans. Good luck keep up the work and dont get frustrated
I haven't had a hip surgery, but I had to have my big toe fused because lupus deteriorated my joint. That was in February and I now am going on my fifth month post-op and it still hasn't fused. Initially, the Dr. expected that I would be able to return to work a month post-op, but no such luck. When they cut into my bone she said it looked like a bone of a 98 year old and I am 40. Lupus scares me and the sicker I get the harder it is mentally to deal with this malady. I wish you luck, but with my experience we heal very very slowly.
Having lupus slows healing but if you use cortisone, that REALLY slows it. Mom has lupus and had her hip replaced in December. We were told to supplement with Coral Calcium, because it rebuilds the bones faster than most other calciums. She recovered soon after starting those.
Best wishes!
Thank you all for your advice, I truly appreciate it.
