Why is it so hard to find a good doctor?

I’m back to square 1 basically. I don’t have a Primary Care Physician right now because he tried to give me an injection that would have sent me to the ER via ambulance so I got in trouble when I literally twisted his arm to prevent him from giving me the injection and screamed for a nurse. It doesn’t phase me that I’ve been banned from that office because the second he brought that needle into the room he was fired as my PCP anyways. But I’m just curious why it’s so impossible to find a good doc that doesn’t have a 6-9 month wait for a first visit as a new patient? Anyone else have problems finding a good doc?

Hi Jason,

I know your discussion is important but good one mate for twisting his arm, that as made me laugh thumbs up emoticon....i've been throwed off doctor's books in the past for not messing about like yourself.

I totally understand where your coming from and it is hard because my first one could'nt careless and would'nt prescribe nothing and i was refered onto another who's turned out to be caring and such a straight man.

Half the time it's like they don't like there jobs so why study the field in the first place it's so annoying and i hope your able to drop on another soon who will take you more serious and treat you how you should be.

Terri :)

Jason,

What upsets me the most about how they treated you, is you saved them from a malpractice suit! I'm sorry that you've gone through this, hand in there! Trisha

great post

Dear Jason,

I must say my thinking was right there with the malpractice train of thought too! I have never heard the like! As my friend on the Psoriatic Arthritis groups points out, we are not going to get the Dr who graduated at the top of their class, highly unlikely we would be in their social of financial sphere.

I do not understand how they are more available in 6-9 months than they are now, but there are not that many Rheumatologists in the Country, not sure how many more will choose to undertake such costly training with our healthcare system so new unsure. Not heard of a shortage of GP's though, but I would imagine he same concerns.

There is a national hotline something like talk to a nurse to find a Doctor, that may help you find someone you were not aware of. Have you considered an Urgent Care facility?

I'll be sure to post if I run across anything else.

I wish you well,

SK

BTW, have you thought of calling your insurance company and asking for advice?

Good luck Jason, I too understand about the doctors and their not listening, I mean who knows you better than yourself, so what if they went to school for medicine, they did not go to school to learn about Jason's health and you should listen to the patient, you could learn alot as a doctor. WAY TO GO ON TWISTING HIS ARM!!!!!!

Hi Fighter,

Twisting his arm did make me laugh..that's the best in ages mate.

What was in the injection, Jason? And although it may be emotionally satisfying to many of the members that you twisted the guy's arm to keep him from hurting you, to an ambulance chaser that act could be defined as misdemeanor assault. Better to use words like "cease, halt and desist!" , I think.

The injection was a steroid shot. The last time I got one I was rushed from the doctors parking lot to the ER with several issues including my pulse was through the roof, my chest was pounding, and I could barely breathe. The doctor is well aware of this and I repeatedly asked him what he was giving me and all he said was “just a simple injection to help with your sinuses”. I told him not to give it to me until he told me what it was and he still went to give it to me. That’s when I grabbed his arm.

Hi Jason,

By the sounds of it, there's some form of allergy to it mate and you could have been alot worse off but what i can't understand why still be persistant after telling him several times...it makes you wonder sometimes.

Terri :)

SK,
I have called my insurance company and they are absolutely no help. I think they are tired of hearing from me because last year they disputed every single claim that was submitted to them which resulted in interesting calls from me. They even disputed a claim when I was sent to the ER by my Gastro. Needless to say keeping getting “dispute” notices my calls to them got more and more interesting with lawyers being brought in to a couple calls.

Gosh! That's awful Jason. I cannot imagine a GP/Rhemy behaving like that! I have a great GP. He is respectful and a great listener. I have been living in Australia for 7 years, but am from England. The doctors I saw there were generally pretty good too. Try not to dwell on it though, because I find anger and resentment can make you feel worse.xx

Hi Clare,

Great input about the doctor's and i'm from the UK also and my GP is excellent with me...it so weird how is behaviour was knowing the risks he was putting Jason in.
