My hands are so swollen and sore, (can't make a fist). I can't take any anti - inflammation s due to the fact that I am allergic to Sulfa. I am finally off predinsone , and I have lost 15 pounds of the 80 lbs that I gained with it. (I don't want to go back on it). I also can't take over the counter anti-inflammation meds, since I am on blood thinner. I am in such a pickle and don't know what to do. My whole body feels like I have been ran over by a mac truck. Please if any of you have any ideas.. it would be greatly appreciated. Hope all is well with all of you !!!
I am allergic to sulfa also and can't take Celebrex however could take Relafen- an anti-inflammatory for those allergic to sulfa. Ask your physician if it would help you? What blood thinner are you on? Depending but you may be able to take OTCs under doctor's direction even with blood thinners. All that pain gets really old when you have to face it every day
I can't advise on what would help but poobie as given some good advice...but all this swelling and pain again is coming from the prednisone...steriods can be good for the pain and swelling but once off it can make you feel just as bad as before you've taken it.

I am taking Pradaxa 150 mg twice a day, only one so far I'm not allergic to.. coumidin and lovenox can't take
Hi Bethany,
Do you have hughs syndrome being as your on Pradaxa for the reduction of stroke and systemic embolism reagrding clotting as i had DVT and was on warfarin? xxx
Bethany,
Since i asked you that question...i've been searching to see if there's any painkillers that will match with Pradaxa and i'm finding none, the best thing to do is see your GP straight away with the pain your in because anyone of us could finally come up with something and cause you more danager especially being on a blood thinner.

What is your diet like? I was suffering for years with extreme inflammation. I went and saw an acupuncturist who had me log all my foods that I was eating and suggested that dairy products may have been the culprit. He wanted me to see if it was possible by removing them from my diet for two weeks to see what happened. Let me tell you, this was HARD. Dairy is in EVERYTHING...ingredient lists sneak it in all over the place, and I was hell-bent on giving up my cheese! Well, without any changes in meds or anything else, my inflammation literally disappeared in about 3 days. Every time I try to "sneak" some dairy, I blow up and am even more lethargic and inflamed than usual. I did a lot of research, and consulted with a lot of doctors (I work in a hospital, so it was easy to do), and they all showed medical studies that dairy products cause inflammation in most people, but it's even worse for people with autoimmune diseases. Give it a shot, see if it helps. I've been dairy-free for two years now and it's probably one of the best things I ever did for myself.
Hello dayzeerock,
My diets very poor and my husband goes mad to a certain degree...i eat 12 jaffa cakes of a dinner time...an healthy meal at night salad etc as that's how my hubby loves to eat, then turkish delight slices afterwards and that me for the day but i crave chocolate having low sugar and when i eat it, it boosts my system for a short while as it's only a quick "Fix" as we all know.
Yes Dairy products are lethal to we and i've had IBS for over 15yrs and used to get pain by my pancreas and thought it was that trouble but since the lupus as got stronger...my god for as put me in some terrible pain, i can't eat spices, onions anything like that doubles me up and my husband does like though one curry a week which he makes and i can't tolerate that no more...but tonight we've had noddles mixed with greens and a thin slice od steak each, as certain food such as meat hurts to swollow due to my sjogrens i have.
Well i've got A1 diseases overlapping autoimmune diseases one nice cocktail and i've never had to watch things so much in all my life now but i am pleased how you've cut them out and it's helped your system such alot.

I am on a 1000 calorie diet a day, I don't do dairy due to the fat content. I found a herb that I am going to order that is suppose to help with inflammation and joint pain. I am willing to try anything at this point...
