IM FINALLY OFF OF THOSE STERIODS AFTER 11 YEARS, BUT GUESS WHAT I BEEN HAVING ALOT OF PROBLEMS SINCE I STOPPED. MY ANKLES BEEN SWOLLEN TO THE POINT WHERE I COULD BARELY WALK, I BEEN HAVING THIS HURTFUL, HURTFUL PAINS IN MY CHEST THAT SEEMS TO GET WORSE AT NIGHT OR WHEN I LAY DOWN, I BEEN TAKEN EXTRA PAIN MEDS AND MY DOCTOR PUT ME ON CELEBREX TO HELP WITH THE INFLAMATION. SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE A WALKING DRUG STORE ALL OF THE STUFF I HAVE TO TAKE ON A DAILY BASES. MY FACE ITCHES ALL THE TIME. I HAVE TO CARRY ANTI ITCH MEDS IN MY PURSE. IF I DONT I GET WELPS ALL OVER MY FACE. I ALSO BEEN EXTREMELY FATIGUE. MY HUBBY HAD TO STAY HOME FROM WORK LAST WEEK TO HELP ME AROUND THE HOUSE. I HOPE AND PRAY ITS NOT ALWAYS GOING TO BE LIKE THIS... I HOPE NOT. OK THATS ENOUGH ABOUT ME. HOW ARE MY FRIENDS DOING?
Hi Tanya
I'm so sorry you're going thru all this! I have the swollen ankles, I haven't found a pair of socks that my ankles don't hurt from the band. Even the ones for diabetes for circulation, the band hurts. Does ice or soaking your feet in epsom salts help you?
Can you put an extra pillow under you when you lay down, so that you are elevated a bit more? Maybe this would alleviate some of the pain in your chest? Are you taking anything specifically for lupus right now? Plaquenil or anything?
I pray this is just an adjustment that you're going through, a phase. It will get better, keep the faith : )
love, Trisha
Hello Tanya,
It's lovely to see you on, even though it's under bad circumstances with the Lupus...i've never took predinsone but read a fare bit about it, i'm pleased your off it Tanya but it's well known for carming issues right down and once off it the lot kicks back off.
Wiashing you all the best...love Terri xxx
Hi Tanya , I hope you get better soon, I too was suffering with pain in my chest and it ended up being inflammation. I have been unable to work for 3 weeks but slowly getting better , praise God
Hello ekkie,
I'm wishing you all the very best of luck with your recovery also...as with flares you just don't know how long they'll stand for.

I'm so sorry that you are going through this. The one thing that scares me is my rhumie told me if she took me off of the steriods and have to put me back on, it would be devastaing to my bones. She lowered the dose. She wants to ween me off. But because the pain is so bad sometimes, i'm not sure if i'm ready for that. How is the Celebrex working for you?
hi tanya,
sorry to hear that you are going thru an uncomfortable transition coming off steroids. its amazing what all these meds / chemicals do to our bodies and how our body becomes reliable on there use. it sounds impossible but, circulation is the key to some of this, even though moving around sounds impossible. gentle movement helps to bring down some inflammation ... are you able to get in the tub for a warm bubble bath? being in water, soaking can help the swelling... and the soul. be kind to yourself and grateful to those around you who help you find comfort. I hope you start feeling better, big hugs to you! amy
Hello Tanya,
How you feeling today since you added your thread....please keep we updated on how you are when possible.

When you have been on steroids for an extended period of time you can develop Adrenal gland "failure" its not that they arent working but the extra hormones the steroids provide encourage them to as my doctor says be lazy. Particularly Aldosterone, another hormone secreted by the adrenal cortex, aldosterone, regulates blood pressure levels through influencing how much sodium is retained or excreted from the body. Not really sure if there is a way to get the adrenal glands working at optimum level again after being on the steroids for such a ling time but hey ask your rhummy he might know. I wish you all the best in your journey
God Bless
