Weird sensation in feet

Hi guys. Hope you all are having a better day. I have a question for you all. i have noticed while sleeping i often wake up with a strange feeling in my feet and arms, sort of tingling, and trembling with weakness. It takes a while for the trembling to stop and stand properly.

Does this happens with anyone else or is it just me? Please do reply.

Warm Hugs to those who are having a bad day. :)

Hiya! I think I know what sensation you are talking about. What I find helps me the best is to sleep with my legs elevated using a big wedge shaped pillow. With my arms it was feeling like they had fallen asleep so now I sleep with a little balled up blanket between my arms so they aren’t floppin everywhere like a trout on a line.

Another thing that helps when it’s the worst. Sometimes the pins and needles start to feel like little bugs with spike stiletto tap shoes are doing an interpretative dace to The Flight of the Valkyrieson my stage legs. For that I use pressure (it overrides the pain signal. Since only one type of stimulus can be sent at one time, yay science!) using a weighted blanket and wrapping myself up in cocoon style…it’s super cute believe me. Sometimes I can prtsuade Pippin the pup to clonk his 18 lbs of adorable on my lap. That helps. My guy is a massage therapist so he is good about helping me though the feeling until I’m able to sleep.

Quick question…well two. Do you fet frequent leg cramps? Are your hands and feet cold to the touch (need another person to check) and. Do your hands and feet ever get a little blue tint or do your nailbeds look pale with a blue hue that darkens as it gets closer to the cuticle?

Thanks for replying. Even i elevate my legs while sleeping but that dosent seem to help much with this weird sensation lately. however i havent tried putting on heavy blanket. would definately try that. thaks for the tip.

Regarding your questions, yes i get terrible leg cramps. i started taking vitamin E supplement and that has really helped a lot.
however my hands and feet are never cold to touch, instead i get a burning sensation in my fingertips and toes and are always warm. Nor do my hands get blue tint or the nailbeds.

These weird foot sensations were some of the first symptoms of Lupus---before I was diagnosed. They still come and go yet other issues are more disabling, so I don't have suggestions but others certainly have and will! Take care. All the best, Lupancatwoman

Do try the blankets and tell me how it works. If you are prone to leg cramps (I had a bad bout of them a few years ago) try eating a banana or pickle (if you can stomach it, a sip of pickle juice helped me the best) before bed. The cramps may be caused from a potassium imbalance. A fun twist on the “nanner before bed” is to mash them up and freeze them. It turns out like ice cream but with only one good for you ingredient. Hope it helps!

These sound like symptoms that I experience with my neuropathy in my lower legs and feet. I have used the pressure of numerous blankets that have helped before I began taking neurontin.

While I don’t have the tingling sensation, in the morning, the muscles in my arms and legs experience weakness…it’s like they do nt want to work. The deeper I sleep, the more extreme the weakness is. It is a very strange feeling. This morning, driving to work, my arm muscles felt so weak it was a little difficult holding on to the steering wheel…and I was thinking that I really had no business driving like that and just asked God to get me to work safely.

Also, when trying to go to sleep my legs will start jerking. I’ll be almost asleep and then the jerking is so intense that it wakes my up. This will go on and on for quite awhile. Like manybofvyou, I experience leg cramps A LOT.

The only numbness I have experienced is occasionally with my face, more around my lips and lower facial area. I do suffer from the extremely dry mouth and lips so I thought it might be tied to that. I don’t really know.

Have a good night!

Hi Pollen Grains

I get the same, as well as having small seizure-type activity. I understand this is common and can be caused by a number of factors - our illness, effects on auto-immune system, neurological issues and medication. So, it's pretty hard to tell.

Maybe a good thing would be to track your symptoms (date, time, severity, frequency, other) and keep close tabs on it with your doctor.

It's not necessarily something to worry about - however I do feel for you and empathises that, as a minimum, it is uncomfortable and triggers some fear of unknown.

Best wshes,

Dkel

hey sunny, thanks for the reply. i exactly feel the same. however i do not experience numbness in my face. however i do have extremly dry mouth and nasal passage, which is due to sjorgan's syndrome. do you get swelling and pain under your jawline?

hope you feeling better. warm hugs. :)
