I am retired. I am on medicare. I pay $300 a month for supplemental insurance. They will not pay for my Synthroid. I cannot afford to pay and must therefore take a generic which does not work as well. I have got to make an appointment with someone who can help me get a better deal. I do not want to throw the baby out with the bathwater. My coverage is great for hospitals, surgeries, etc. I am so tired of figuring stuff out. But once I am on the genetic I may not be able to figure it out.
I understand how you feel, when I lost my insurance, my husband's company covered us and we're paying $600 for medical only for the two of us. I was paying about $400 for the family with medical, dental and vision.
Try using Polarmeds in Canada. It's the Abbott Synthroid you get here....costs about $45 for three months. It's polarmeds.com. You must have a valid prescription to mail or fax.
Try having your dr call the insurance company I had to have a med preapproved one time because I couldn't take the generic.
Yes, having dr call the insurance may help. My insurance didn't want to pay for Celebrex and wanted me to take some other NSAID, but the dr put in a pre-authorization and now they are covering it (with a huge co-pay of course.)
