I was curious to know if anyone has had frequent sores in the mouth and nose. I have these recurrences almost monthly. I get sores in my mouth and in and around my nose. Is this pretty common? What should I take or avoid?
I think this is the effect of secondary Sjogren syndrome.
Pls do check with your Dr.

Shoemommy, a lot of us with lupus go through times of having mouth and/or nose sores. Raising my hand. My own experience is to stay on what is a healthy and clean diet for me to keep them at bay, but when a flare hits, they have a mind of their own!
For my nose, I find organic sourced vitamin E applied directly to them helps with healing. My mouth sores will not tolerate anything acidic, so I avoid foods like vinegars, citrus juices and fruits, tomatoes, and so forth, when they are with me. If you drink coffee or soda, those can also cause more issue, in my own experience.
We each are a bit different, so it is trial and error. Checking with your doctor is a good idea to get suggestions and help. I hope you are able to find what works well for you, and feel better soon!
warm hugs, Louise
It is part of lupus but called Sjogren syndrome. I know alot of us get them. Try to avoid anything with acidic during this time. Vitamin E does work well for the nose sores. Hang in there you are not alone. Sending you love, hugs and prayers
I get mouth sores frequently and my mouth hurts, making it hard to chew.
Thank you all. Very helpful
I get horrible, painful mouth sores. Plaqeunil has helped in the past, but for the pain I use Magic Mouthwash, and occasionally Percocet. It sucks!! Good luck!
Rinsing with liquid benadryl and maalox helps to soothe and calm mine down and avoid anything spicy at those times...take care and hang in there :)
I get them on and off they are very painful and annoying, I haven't had them in 3 or 4 months started Methotrexate a few months ago along with the plaquinel so maybe that is what is keeping them at bay (knock on wood)
SORES IN THE MOUTH TRY NYASATIN MOUTH WASH. IT IS BANANA FLAVOR BUT DO NOT DRINK IT. WHY?
BECAUSE IT WILL MAKE YOU GAIN WEIGHT IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO GAIN ANY DON'T LET IT GO DOWN AND JUST RINSE OR GARGLE WITH IT.
ALWAYS MICKEY AND RUSH
Woke up this morning in crazy pain after touching my nose during sleep. I have sores in both nostrils that are so sensitive that I can’t let anything touch my nose on the outside.
I also have a sore on the tip of my tongue that is getting bigger.
What kills me is everything I read online says these sores are “painless”
they are certainly not painless but I use A and E ointment for the sores in my nose and salt water rinses for the mouth sores.
Thanks, Tammy Jean
Question…does listerine make these better or worse?
Yes, I have swelling in mouth. I asked my rhueny about it Monday, she said it’s because of flare UPS and inflammation.
Let your dr know everything that’s going on with
u.
yes always rinse your mouth with Listerine after brushing.br/>

I get that often as well…i know there is a mouthwash your pharmacy can mix for you that has Malox or something in it! Ask your doctor! I’m sorry you are experiencing these as well They are difficult to handle i know…
I have had a sore on the inside of my right cheek now for about 3months. It just won't go away... luckily it doesn't hurt, but it is annoying. Well, it does hurt when I accidently bite on it when I'm eatting. I also had a sore on my lower left inside bottom lip that caused my whole bottom lip in that area to swell, badly. It looked like I got beat up by someone. It didn't last long, only about a day and a half and went away, but it scared me. Again, no pain, but annoying as all ends. Has anyone had sores like either of those before? I haven't been told anything about sorjens (sp?) disease from my rhuemy though.... Thanks for the feedback, and great thread shoemommy07! :)
