Well, I'm back again and this time it's a question about a recurring rash on my elbow. I've attached a photo of it to see if any of you have had this? Or know what it is and what I need to do about it?
It's itchy sometimes, but mostly just red, inflamed and hurts. This is the only place it occurs.
I have this also on my elbows. It comes and goes. Have you ever taken a bath in Epsom salt ? That helps some and also get creme for eczema. Hope this helps. Hugs and Prayers Sandy
yes and the creme you get from the dermatologist is the same thing as what is in the eczema creme. And it cost alot less. But you may want to get yours checked to make sure. It seems everytime we get a new symptom and go to yet another dr we get told it's the lupus causing it.
I get that same rash regularly off and on. A mild moisturizer soothes it a little, but I can never get rid of it. It goes by itself. I usually get it when I’m particularly run down.
I used to get a rash like that on my for arms. What I find out what help me is when I get out of the shower I use jelled baby oil before my skin has a chance to dry off. I don't know if it is the same type of rash but maybe you should give it a shot. I hope you rash goes away and stays away.
I get similar rashes and have had biopsies. The dermatologist can do the biopsy as well as my rheumy has done them. They vary in intensity of burning. I use Clobex spray when it is particularly painful or not resolving. Clobex is a topical steroid spray.
I get that same rash, but on the inside of my calves. I’ve had it biopsyed and it came back as nothing. I scratch so hard that I bruise and bleed. It just has to go away on its own. Sorry, wish I could be more help!!!
I have been told that it is cause by the photosensitivity in Lupus. Remember that ANY light can affect the skin, mostly the arms. (prevention helps) I use ice instead of creams and it does me better than the creams.
Thank you so much for the replies! It's just nice to know that others have had this as well.
I made an appointment to see my family doctor on Thursday so I can show her this and just basically talk to her about everything that's been going on. I haven't seen her since I had my tonsils out, only my rheumy...and it seems like she listens better. I'm sure she'll tell me that nothing can be done and it's just 'the lupus talking again, telling me to slow down,' but it won't hurt to try :)
I get a similar rash on my leags and back, it is very itchy. My rheumy prescribed Triamcinolone Acetonide and it helps. I have to use it diligently though. I went to dermatologist and said probably lupus related.
Personally it kind of looks like poison oak or ivy rash that is mild and way you are describing it also sounds like it. Even if you use to not catch it, your blood changes and you can plus now is time it is bad since leaves are popping out and have a lot of oil so your pets could bring it home. BUT it could be just a allergy to many things.
It does not look like my sun rashes which are very red and have large bumps, almost blister like things..hurts no itching at all and hurt bad to itch it. Again we all get things differently though.
My dry skin was hives which might be it...mine were like rows of rashes but we all get things differently
SO go see doctor....if they say most likely lupus...ask why and is there way to confirm it so you can treat it correctly. Skin scrapping for example to make sure they can get to source so you do not have to keep trying treatments. Cort cream most likely work but works for poison oak, allergies to soaps, etc...even sun they give you cort cream to calm it down.
so if you really want to know.. politely ask why they think it is by scientifically thinking and would scraping or other test show for sure so you can know. I hope it is just something easy like oak or dry skin, not allergic reaction to like pet dander if you have dogs or cats....if you do..there are sprays you can put on them to help it get rid of dander in pets coats.
see you doctor and let us know the results....just photos look like so many things...so sorry.
