Could UCTD cause sporadic protein in urine? I was tested twice over a one month period. Both tests showed protein in my urine. Six week later, my urine was tested to determine if I should go to a specialist. This time it was negative.

I, too, often have small amounts of protein in the urine. I believe I was told by doctor a while back that it is not necessarily something to be alarmed about. Just keep an eye on it.
I always have protein in my urine. About 4 times what it should be. My rheumy is totally unconcerned even though my urine gets frothy from the excess protein and my kidneys ache at times. When I ask him about it he just says it’s not that bad. I don’t really care for him but my primary won’t treat any of my lupus issues so I’m stuck. I’m part of Kaiser and the other rheumy in that office is even worse. If I want to see a different one it would be an even longer drive. ugh I hope they find a reason for you. Hugs, Annemarie
I've had this also, but after further testing, and more negetives than positives, they just chalk it up to 'oh well...', so I can understand your concern, but I think anyone with pain, should seek more answers. You don't want to ignore what might be something really bad stirring up. Feel better
I have no pain at all so hopefully it is due to inflammation but nothing kidney related
You can change docs any time. And you can search for the specialty. If you're in San Diego County, I can recommend one. Let me know. Don't know how far it's from where you live. I go to any clinic that has the best doctors for me, even if I have to travel far.

I faxed my labs and urinalysis to the nephrologist yesterday. Today, I got a call from his office that he wants me to come in. It is not an emergency but he does want to see me. My appointment is next Wednesday. In a way, I was hoping that the doctor was going to say that there is no problem but on the other hand, I know that it is better to be sure about what is going on

Hopefully they will find that it is no big deal. I have been reading that dehydration could cause protein in the urine. Maybe it will be something like that. The nephrologist is supposed to be very good. It was a positive to hear that it was not an emergency and they were able to schedule me in for the next available instead of squeezing me in as an emergency. I have no digestive symptoms so I hope that is a positive
