Hi Aunt Pearl

I am so sorry to hear of your pain and other problems I don't know what to say but hang in there and may God be with you. You will be in my prayers. I hope that does not sound too lame but I really can't think of anything else to say. I hope that all of your problems gets better soon.

It is always nice to hear success stories. Maybe I will be able to come back and tell you my success story some day too! Thanks so much for the prayers.

I have a friend who had this happen with his hip and another who had it happen with her knee. The friend with the infection in his hip replacement spent 3 months in a nursing home with no hip. I saw him last month, as he walked into the bar where we were having a reunion! He looks wonderful and feels even better! I hope and pray that you have that same feeling very soon!

I am not sure it is more rare or not but you can just never be to careful. Germs are everywhere and this will be my eighth surgery on my knees in the last 4 years so I think I rolled the dice one too many times. Thanks for your prayers.

Oh, Aunt Pearl, I am so very sorry. Way back this was not uncommon but now it seems more rare. My hubby's aunt had this happen and it was due to going to the dentist after her knee surgery and getting infected. She was one of many this happened to and hence why we all have to take antibiotics and hour before any dental work. After my replacement I was put on antibiotics as a precaution so looking at my next one next month I hope that the surgeon does the same thing for me. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Gentle hugs!

I so needed that huge hug! Thank you.

I am hoping I can put this all behind me and that time goes quickly.

Sending you a big hug right back!

Dear Aunt Pearl,

I am so sorry that you are going through this.

You definitely have my empathy. People look at me strangely when I say that I have had three total knee replacement surgeries. My first replacement was back in the 1980s. The debris from the prothesis causes an autoimmune reaction which softened the bone in my leg. So they had to take the prosthesis out, cut out the soft bone, graft bone to make a platform for the new prosthesis, and then put the new prosthesis in.

I did not get an infection and I am soo sorry that you have to go through this. I hope that the infection is treatable and that they get you up and moving again. I am so glad that this doc is trying. I remember the one who just refused to see you.

Please accept this huge electronic hug. And please stay in touch.
