I somehow managed to contract MRSA (because apparently the fun of Lupus isn't enough!) and was in the hospital for 6 days. They tell me that it's not uncommon for Lupus patients to get, but I've never read that anywhere. Is this true? And aside from antibiotics how do I get rid of it? Thanks!
has the dr sent a sample off to se which antibiotics respond to it? that needs to be done. most of the time it will be clyndamisin or like vancomycin! I had to bring my two older daughters all the way to new Orleans because they had MRSA. it was terrible. A few things that are a must is keeping antibiotic sav around in the inside of ur nose or bactrin! Also bleach bathes! MRSA can be contagious so clean ur home well with bleach constantly. specially the bath tub. clean it with bleach between each person. Its been a long while so I cant think of everything right off but if I think of some more things I will send u a message. It is severely , extremely hard to get rid of. I fought with it for years with my daughters. The best of luck to u! Them bleach bathes r extremely important to kill the staff on ur skin!
Yep I had mrsa. It very easy to clear up with allicin. Only a couple companies make the right kind. If your interested let me know and I will send you a link to the site.
Topical allicin (allimax) works for mrsa external wounds. They make capsules containing the same formula as the topically solution. I bought my supply from the uk where the price is significantly more reasonable (but it can be found on amazon) I also found tea tree oil to be effective topically as well :).

I was in the hospital for 15 days...the first time. Im so sorry you are on this roller coaster because once you test positive, you have it. you can look foward to being in isolation when in the hospital. Its not unusal to have it in your nose...kim
I was first diagnosed with Mrsa in my blood stream five years ago. Antibiotics didn’t work at all but, the allimed started to work in the first week. I have been symptom free ever since

MRSA likes to sneak up on those with weakened immune systems so that's probably why we're susceptible. Those with chronic illnesses, those who are hospitalized, and even those with just a small wound are at risk. 30% of the population are carriers of staph and it lives on their skin and in their noses. Sometimes being a carrier and having a weakened immune system can make you more prone. Like the others have said, your doctor should do some cultures and send them to a lab to test for which antibiotic will work (usually Vancomycin). Make sure you take the antibiotic exactly as prescribed and finish the treatment. Keep any wounds covered. Hand washing is key so make sure everyone is washing their hands with soap and water or using Purell. Hand washing is the best thing you can do to prevent catching something and to prevent passing it along. Don't share razors, towels, etc. Most of the time the antibiotics will do the trick, but again, your doctor needs to do some cultures to know which antibiotic will work.
I too, deal with this whenever I'm in a flare. Mine are usually just wounds that end up clearing up on their own after about a week or so. My doctor told me that once you contract the first MRSA, you'll always have it or be extremely succeptible to it.
