I have been sick for the past 2 weeks, the satellite health care providers (patient first, etc) diagnosed me first with a sinus infection, then bronchitis and now a chest infection. I am constantly developing infections, while in “remission”, I hope I am not being misdiagnosed. Has anyone had the same experience?
Get a humidify it will help. Stay in as much as u can and get vitamin D. Good luck hope you feel better!
Do they give you antibiotics for the infections, and do the antibiotics help?
I've had a problem with repeated kidney infections & stones. It's flu season so cold germs are rampant. Taking immune suppressors suppresses your immune system & makes you more susceptible to infection. I take Vit C, Vit D 5000U a day & multi vitamins. I try to eat halthy & get enough sleep. I am going to try juicing it's suppose to be good, full of antioxidants. I hope you feel better soon.
Unahoredandscared,
If they have not taken a chest x-ray demand that they do. 3 years ago I went to urgent care...no chest x-ray but antibiotics, told I had bronchitis. Within 2 days I was in the ICU on a ventilator. Thankfully I was sedated to the time, but scared my husband so bad he was sure I would die. If you are not feeling better tomorrow, get to the doctors! With your lupus, it can come on before you know it.
Here's hoping you feel better soon,
HugsXOXO,
DeAnne
Thanks DeAnne. I chest x-ray was performed one week ago and my GP listen to the sounds of my breath on our visit this week. He did not feel it necessary to provide me with any other antibiotics, just prednisone at my request to clear up the residual wheezing sounds. But, I am proud of myself, I did not take the prednisone, instead, I just waited for a day and the sounds went away on their own.
This Lupus thing is trial and error, I don't like that, but, what else can I do. Thanks guys for the information.
Yes. I am there now. Currently on antibiotic for sinus infection and bronchitis. Our immune systems are weak to begin with and so we constantly pick things up. I used to teach nursery school and had to stop because I was so sick so often. Once we pick up one thing than we are really in trouble and more susceptible to secondary, third and so on infections. If it continues I would seek out a second opinion and insist upon chest x-ray, ct scan and more…whatever necessary to figure it out. Good luck!! Hope you are improving and feeling better soon!!
I am there also. My husband and I both have it but mine has been so much worse than his. Plain mucinex for the congestion....vit D and Vit C ....lots of liquids...bed rest...honey before I go to bed... and chloraseptic for the sore throat. I sound like a dog when I cough...terrible barking...and I haven't figured out which breed of dog yet!
My anti inflammatory and other meds also seem to help with the discomfort.
I surely hope you snap out of it quickly.

So its just a cold then... Ok. Feel better please
Unshoreandscared,
If you haven't had one yet, please get a chest x-ray. We are more susceptible to lung infections. 3 ICU stays once on a respirator was when I got a clue. Same with the misdiagnosis first, my husband once had to call 911 from his car. The headlines today on the news said Flu is making it's way across the country, so better safe than sorry.
Hugs & prayers,
DeAnne
UPDATE. So, my URI turned into pneumonia and my doctor caught it in time. I hope I did not shock my body out of remission.. Please keep me in your prayers.
So glad they caught it. I will definitely be praying for a quick recovery. Pneumonia comes on SO fast with us. Do the awful breathing tx's, use the lung exerciser, it's a pain, but it beats death.
Praying for you sweetie,
DeAnne
Thank you DeAnne,
A brief warning to all, if you are taking AZO UTI over the counter, read the packet insert carefully, I didn't. I freaked out called my doctor because my urine was orange brown, and I thought it was blood. Then I found out, once I read, AZO will turn your urine orange-brown and not to worry. Now, if I can only get sleep
