are swollen lymphnodes part of lupus? I was just diagnosed a few weeks ago , and prior t0 diagnosis I had a huge cough/sore throat- but that was over 1.5 months ago and their still swollen, about 1cm in length each.... ENT visit? im not sure
I’ve only just been diagnosed like you and my lymph nodes have been up for years
I’m not too worried about them they don’t really change much in size but do hurt sometimes… I think it is a symptom of lupus but if your really worried then go see someone about it… Mine have been up for atleast 3 years and I’ve apparently had lupus for longer than that it just took so long for a diagnosis… Hope I helped

Hi Potslupus,
Yes definitely ENT as i suffer with Lymph nodes and have had several removed and Lupus can also cause this issue...specialists like to remove them while small so the sack they grow in can also be removed.
I've got another two formed again but not seen my doctor about them yet.

Wow Tez, thanks for the info! It isn't uncommon for one of my lymph nodes to swell/ache at me without any noticeable cause. I hadn't realized this was so closely tied to joint aches and Lupus! Good info to have.
Oh no I diddnt know they could burst
I havnt had a problem with them they’ve stayed the same size for years… I might talk to my rheumatologist about them next time I see him I hope I havnt left it too late
Hello Talencia,
I'm glad the info as helped you also...Lymph nodes do swell and ache and i noticed when mine got bigger they do start to itch also :)

cayleigh they can burst...mine got big within days and while washing me caught across it with my face and not long after yellow showed then started coming out...so i should see your rheumo about it but it's usually ENT that deal with these issues....i'll add some pic's after for you to see :)

Yes, sweetie,
Swollen lymph nodes can certainly be a symptom. Lymph nodes help cleanse the system of infection so if you had a cold it's possible that was the cause.
Good luck and Good health,
DeAnne
In the first 2 years after I was diagnosed with lupus I had 3 lymph node abscesses. I stumped all the doctors who had never seen something like this. The first one was under my right arm and the doctor I was going to at the time allowed it to continue swelling (extremely painful) before they decided to do a surgical biopsy. The morning of the surgery it burst in the shower (very gross). They still performed the surgery and drained it. I have had nerve damage under that arm ever since. The next 2 lymph node abscesses (groin & base of my neck at shoulder) were drained right away by a much better surgeon I had started going to. Since those 3 abscesses, I have not had anymore (knock on wood). I would recommend seeing someone and not letting it go into what I had to experience.
I agree, Dobby.
And welcome to the site, glad you are here and good to see you are already participating. I was mis-diagnosed with Hydradinitis (where virtually every lymph node becomes absessed). I underwent 9 plastic surgeries to remove all under my arms, portions of my breasts, leg, back of legs and skin grafts. Now I only occaisionally get them, and am able to drain and pac them myself. The ones in my neck swell on almost a weekly basis because of all of the infection that we Lupies deal with.
As most lymph nodes like you described are filled with the Stapholococcus bacteria it is very important that they be checked as it can move to the bloodstream.
Glad you are doing well.
Cayleigh, I hope that some of these responses are helpful and that you continue to take good care of yourself.
Best of health,
DeAnne
