I have never in my life had headaches like this. I’ve had headaches before but these are horrible. I dont think I ever had a migraine before so maybe thats what this is but I dont get the aura associated with migraines. These headaches make my entire face and jaw hurt, I get even more sensitive to light and my eyes ache. I get an upset tummy too does anyone else get these headaches? Should I see a neuro? I had an MRI in April and my brain is normal. I need relief though cause these headaches are by far my worst symptom.
I had an MRI in April to check for tumors and MS cause I was having a lot of neuro issues and it was clear. What do you take for your headaches?
I have had migraines for years. I don’t get auras either. I wake up in the morning with a numb spot on the back of my head and the migraine follows within a couple hours. I get sensitivity to light and sound with mine as well. Generally I do pain meds and sleep if I can. My doctor had me try a nasal spray for migraines a while back. It gave instant relief from migraine but left me feeling heavy like I weighed a thousand lbs. Not high at all, just couldn’t even lift my arms they were so heavy! Doctor said muscle weakness was a side effect some people got so I couldn’t take it anymore. Unfortunately it was a sample and I can’t remember what the name was. Talk to your doctor about some of the migraine treatments. There are things out there that aren’t pain killers. If you’re lucky enough to have the muscle weakness! I think it did something with the blood vessels. Sorry I can’t offer more info!

I of course meant “not to have the muscle weakness”! LOL

Roni I get that numb spot in the back of my head too…huh I wonder if its a nerve??? I had headaches for two months straight every single day but then my dr gave me an alpha-stim machine and within a week the headaches stopped. Im supposed to use it daily for a month then back it down to every other day but when I tried (the same day I posted this topic) I got a headache, and brain fog grrrr. The brain fog makes me soooo fricken mad!!! I feel stupid. I tried Immitrex but it made me feel weird, and the dr didnt want to put me on preventatives why who knows. I hate these headaches they are so disorienting I can barely think straight.
It has for me… But the question then becomes; has the flare caused the migraines or is it the stress of trying to keep up with life during a flare? My migraines are most deffinately worse when I’m flaring but I also get them from stress so in my case I’m not sure what the culprit is! Migraines deffinately suck though!

I don’t get migraines very often. I am interested in the impact of seasonal changes on lupus symptoms. Does this change from summer to fall have an impact on the headaches?
I always have had the numbness so I get about two hours to prepare! If I tried to read or anything when I have the numbness (before the headache comes on) I have blurry vision and the words “dance” around on the page. Have you noticed that with yours?
Did the immitrex make you feel heavy? I don’t know if that’s the one I had or not. Worked great for the migraine but the side effects were crazy! Maybe the doctor doesn’t want to put you on anything because of conflicts with your other meds? My doctor went back to Tylenol 3 after I had the weird side effect.

How are those headaches now?
Word of caution: aspirin thins your blood and so do most NSAIDs. If you are taking both regularly you may develop a drug induced bleeding disorder.
I have ITP (autoimmune bleeding disorder) so aspirin and ibuprofen are things I have to avoid. Aspirin particularly thins your blood (which is why low dose aspirin is taken long term after a heart attack).
Just be careful if you’re taking them frequently! =)
