Horrible Fatigue

I've been on plaquenil for over a year now, and while it has helped some with fatigue, it's not nearly enough. I don't have enough energy to keep my house clean, and I desperately need to get back to work, but this one symptom is holding me back. I have heard that there are some American doctors that will prescribe off-label drugs for it, but I don't know what they are, what the risks/side effects are, or if a canadian doctor will be willing to prescribe.

I would love to hear if any of you have found help with this, and if so, what? I would especially love to hear from any Canadians out there, but honestly any advice from anyone would be welcome.

Thank you in advance. :)

hi blue,

I am new to all of this but your post was the reason why i joined. I have been struggling with fatigue all my life. The reason it is such a struggle is in part due to the way people treat me. I have been called lazy, slacker etc. I've been told to get my a** out of bed and move, that it was mind over matter. Finally my intenist prescribed Ritalin. I questioned this at first because I know that Ritalin is prescribed for ADHD, therefore its a downer right? Apparently Ritalin is a downer in children and an upper in Adults. It is actually classified as an amphetamine. Now I take 10mg per day, Initially the ten at once made me zip around the office and then crash in the afternoon. So far the best results have been 5mg in the morning with breakfast and 5mg after lunch. this will help between flares. Duing flares I just sleep as much as possible.

I have the same problem! Isn't it nice to know there are other pain who understand you? Not matter how much I mention it to my doctors, they never do anything about it. They always blame it on my thyroid. But I think I'll mention that to my doc and see what he says. Thanks for the advice!

Hi,

I was just looking at past post because I have terrible fatigue at the moment. In April I was diagnosed by GP and hemotolgist to have lupus and rehumatoid. However, when I went to the rhumy he said I have Sjogen which is a sister diease to lupus which effects mainly the glands. My doc suggested plaquelin and said it will take 6 weeks to take effect. It has nearly been 5 weeks and this week has been the worse. I stopped my studies cause of the fatigue and do house work in segaments. I work 10 hr days 4 days a week but feel like this is getting to me. My fatigue at the moment is getting worse I am so tired a work and feel like throwing up. i feel sick cause I am so so tired. Feel like I can't stand up or sit any more. Don't know what to do. What do peolpe to on here. i am trying to slow things at home and find a diffrent job.

It was good to hear from other people sugegstion on drugs her but my rhumy said in plaquelin doesn't wrk they will give me steroids. :( Shamwow
