Feet and ankle pain

Anyone else have trouble with feet and ankle pain ? My family dr said it's from my lupus and said I should talk to my rheumy. He said it looks like my feet have developed bunions. Lovely :( So I will see my rheumy in Sept and see what he says to do.

oh boy do I have feet and ankle pain! My feet have plantar facitis, so the only shoes I can really wear that don't hurt my feet are my birkenstocks and my orthoheel sneakers. My ankles didn't start hurting til I was diagnosed with "inflammatory arthritis". Just a dr's way of saying, "I know you have something autoimmune, just don't know which one." <WHATEVER>

I feel your pain sandy73 :)

Hello Sandy,

Well if your doctor says you've developed bunions SNAP mate...my toes and ankles was cracking told my new rheumo about it, he x-rayed my feet and i have Bursitis of the feet, another added bonus from Lupus and this can occur anywhere in the body.

The link explains all about it Sandy and it causes the bones of your toes to seperate and twist in time...it gets really painful.

Hugs Terri :)

My feet and ankle were one of the first places I had pain. If I flex my feet or bend them it feels like they are going to tear right off my ankles. It’s horrible. And I like to walk and exercise and work in the yard. Between the heat and the flare I am in, my yard looks like crappy do- do’s. let me know if you find something that helps. My dog is getting fat (as is her momma). LOL. We need to get back outside.

Hi MBPP,

Do your toes crack and your ankles because if they do you most likely may have what me and Sandy have, then i can mention things to you which help because otherwise it maybe arthritis in your feet and joints :)

MBPP,

This link helps on the best ways to help and also the medications which you need to take.

These items below help your feet :)

These are the kind of soles you look for when buying slip on shoes or shoes.

I really like the thing with the Velcro I will have to see about ordering one.

Thanks Friends. I will keep you posted as to what the rhumy says. Love Sandy

Thanks Terri. I have the first one and the last one. I want those things you put in between your toes but need them in lime green or hot pink or cobalt blue. LOL

I have had diagnosed Lupus SLE for around 2 years. My feet are often in severe pain. Unlike most of the above postings my foot pain is on the top of my feet. When I was still working, at times I could not get out of my car & into house without assistance from my husband. I was on my feet for 10 hrs at a time with work.

Tapering down with Prednisone has last week left me in (seemingly) total body severe arthritis. A temporary increase in Prednisone by 6mg for a week then try taper again. Am astounded at how quickly the steroids took effect.

No bunions or flat feet. Kaz xo

Kaz, that is where my one foot hurts too. I was told by an ortho doc it is arthritis. I am having a partial right knee replacement on Sept. 16th and I am hoping after some time that my left foot will do better since I am putting so much stress on the left side right now. Arthritis can be so very painful.

Oh boy, my feet and toes surely do snap, crackle and pop! But this is different- it feels like the tendons or ligaments or whatever are going to rip in two when I flex my feet or bend my wrists (happens to a
Lesser extent in my knees and elbows.) I had a bone scan of my feet and ankles two years ago and it showed “normal wear and tear.” I am sorry if this doesn’t make much sense- I am stoned on dilaudid as
My rib pain is off the charts today. I have been lying in bd watching “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” on Netflix.

Hi Everyone

I just had surgery for my bunion, I had a plantar facitis release, a ruptured tibial tendon and a pin in my heel. I basically have a whole new foot. My orthopedic doctor feels it was from the lupus, everything we did for the plantar facitis failed to help, actually is worsened. After 8 months, I am able to walk without a limp, unless I've really over done it for the day.

That is great Trisha !! Hopefully they can do something for mine.

Yes! My ankles were very painful during flares. I had to wear those elastic braces for any type of relief. It hardly ever bothers me now. It still happens in my wrists.

I'm glad most of your surgery was a success. My hubby also has the facitis but his foot doctor in IL told him not to ever have the surgery as many times it gets worse. I'm sorry you are one of them.

MBPP you've got me laughing here mate on the 1st and last one...christ that was quick.

Your getting worse i hope you know that...there's hope yet praying to god smiley

Sandy I also get foot and ankle pain. My foot pain is on the top of my foot. It hurts so badly sometimes when I walk. My feet and ankles aren’t swollen, so I don’t understand why this happens. I did notice that it happens when the humidity is high or when I’m sitting for too long. I gently massage my ankles and feet when they hurt. It helps. The pain goes away quickly after the very gentle massage. I had a bunion and bunion surgery on one foot about 8 years ago. The pain from a bunion is different from the top of foot pain. I do have arthritis left over in my foot, but again, it’s a different kind of pain from the top of foot pain I get.

Hello KeepKeepinon,

I have the swelling of the feet and ankles also like yourself and the Bursa causes a fluid build up.

This link says how you can help it :)
