Anyone know anything about these?

I have had a problem with my feet for pretty much all my life, I have white toe nails, my feet crack and hurt, they are red, purple. I have been to a foot doctor, I have had multiple surgery's for bunions, I have a metal rod and screw in my foot. I am double jointed that is also a disease, and so I have had surgery for the double jointed in my toes. it was cut out, but guess what it grew back, when you are double jointed, your bones, joints and skin grows back really fast. anyway let me know what you think is wrong with my feet.

Look up rynauds

wish I could be more help. I have Reynaud's and that is why our feet and hands turn purplish, blueish or white during stress or cold. I am also "loose jointed" and only recently was told that was connected to my autoimmune issues. Hugs and spoons Hon.

me too- my joints are WAY too mobile. I'm looking into pilates as a way to rectify this. it helps tighten ligaments and loosen up muscles. we are backwards- loose ligaments and muscle tension. when i enroll i will be taking the class on the machine "the reformer.". it helps you maintain proper form and is far easier than the mat classes.

Did your podiatrist say what it was called? Because all ones i been to do know about most of the common autoimmune diseases mentioned...think they would have told you.

I have it too...if they or my finger get exposed to cold even freezer section at grocery store the tips will turn blue! But my doctors...both feet, rheum and PCP all noticed it and knew what it was..

Bunions..well sure you know about them and the cause. All i can say is try and follow what the foot doctor says for you to do. I did with mine for my severe RA and eventually went backpacking again!! I just hope you have as good a foot doctor as i been blessed. I also had few icky ones so again...it is the doctor who can make or break how well you do! Leave if they and find one that is good!

Sounds like a form of Raynauds which is common with Lupus patients I hear. My toes will turn purple or white when cold and I had one to swell up for a couple of weeks and was very painful which was part of the Raynaud's. I'm on Procardia to help with the blood flow for it. Definitely see your Rheumatologist about it.

OK I WILL TRY THIS AGAIN, I HAVE A 15 YR OLD DAUGHTER, SHE HAS FATIGUE, DIZZIENESS, TROUBLE GETTING TO SLEEP JOINT PAIN, WEEKNESS, TOOK HER TO THE DOC, HE TOOK BLOOD ASK IF SHE WAS DEPRESSED SAID HE THINKS IT IS A VIRAL INFECTION AFTER HE DID SOME FISHING, WAITING ON TEST, ANY CLUES? I HAVE LUPUS AND AUTO. DES. RUN IN MY FAMILY.

Chelle, the only thing I can comment on is the cracking skin. It can be from contact dermatitis of a kind, brought on by the breakdown of man made materials in sneakers, for example.

The doctor approved remedy is to change out cotton socks a couple of times a day, let your shoes air out a day or two before wearing that same pair again, moisturize at night, and sleep in cotton socks. The process of over damp feet then drying out, repeatedly, makes them crack worse. Then you get set up for opportunistic infections from fungus to bacteria, secondary to the dermatitis. A talc or organic powdered clay (not cornstarch) based foot powder that contains zinc used every day will help prevent and sometimes heal fungal infections.

Please though get a professional opinion. With white toe nails and cracking skin, a dermatologist may have great answers for you.

hugs,

Louise

Have you tried a mild compression socks? That would help the blood flow. Also take fish oil. After several months on fish oil I realized I needed less and less moisturizer. I actually use less moisturizer and body lotion in my fifties than I did in my thirties! It is great for inflammation but also your skin.

Rebecca, if you go to the main page, where the first few discussions show up, look to the left just below them, there is a link there to begin your own. Your post won't get seen here very well in Chelle's foot post. I hope you find the help your daughter needs, you know what a long process diagnosis for anything can be. hugs, Louise

Hi Rebecca,I have a 30yr old daughter and a 27yr old daughter,I believe my oldest has lupus like myself, she doesn’t have insurance so seeing a good doctor is really not on the top of her list, there are so many good books on lupus,I have many,I found a lot of great books on Amazon.co and there is good web sites as well, post a discussion on life with lupus…you will get a lot of great advice, this is a different discussion, also have you taken her to your doctor that treats your lupus?? Or do you have to jump through all the hoops with your insurance to get to the right doctor???I hope things work out for you…Celeste
