I am becoming increasingly convinced that the proliferation of chemicals in our environment and food is not exactly good for our over active immune systems. I know that I can not control many of the toxins I am exposed to but can be more careful about the foods I eat. I am switching to organic lawn care. I realize that the pesticides sprayed on my neighbors lawns will drift to mine but still want to make reasonable changes which will hopefully give my immune system a chance to relax. Has anyone else made similar changes? What if any changes have you noticed?
For sure! I use a line of products from a company called safecoat to paint and do other interior remodeling projects. It is a dr recommended company for the environmentally challenged and i notice a difference. Perfumes and hemicals set me off. We use natural cleaners like white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide. I feel like you that it is less of a burden on he immune system. I also try to eat organics and follow the clean 15 and dirty dozen list put out by the ewg. We live in a very toxic environment and spend most of our time in our homes breathing in that air. So much plastic everywhere and wood furniture Hess days is never solid but made up of plywood or pressed board that is full of toxic glues. I also use an air purifier in several rooms in the home. I could go on and on. This is a very passionate subject for me. Take care :).
I have started to throw away all of our plastic containers and purchase glass ones, also stainless steel water bottles. We now eat mostly organic veggies, fruits and we avoid foods containing gluten, soy, GMOs. We try to purchase grass fed beef and free range chicken that have eaten natural foods without pesticides or herbicides, and have not been given antibiotics etc. No Monsanto products allowed!! Especially those that are "Roundup-Ready" or have been sprayed with Roundup. We purchase low-VOC or no-VOC paints and primers. We recently moved and told our new gardener that we are trying to avoid pesticides, herbicides, etc as much as possible in our yard. I'd rather have a lawn full of dandelions than to be breathing in poisons! And yes, I believe that I'm noticing a difference in the frequency and severity of flares. Also my digestive system is behaving better, I have fewer migraines and fewer episodes of bronchitis and pneumonia.
Be well, everyone!
In my home I use white vinegar and water to clean and disinfect . In my laundry I use very little detergent and vinegar in the softener department. I am gradually replacing all products with natural oils and vinegar . I believe my body does well with simple ingredients. I can not be around outdoor pesticides .
Hi Ya my last bad flare was after we had pest control. Spray outside and inside one room. A long not too funny story. I agree if you have an auto-immune problem adding toxins is like throwing gas on a fire.
