I read an article today that stated 75-95% of autoimmune diseases are self induced by what we eat and how we take care of our body. Has anyone heard that because that upsets me some. I feel like I have no control over this! I can help the symptoms by taking care of myself, but to think I did something to cause this makes me a little sad.

Hi, Kari, that article sounds overstated to me. There are a lot of environmental factors that don't have anything to do with which food products we take off the shelf and purchase. What is in the tap water we drink, for instance, or whether our neighbors are spraying herbicide on the lawn, or what our wall-to-wall carpet or upholstery are off-gassing. Or what is in our DNA.

It can't all be your responsibility. We live in a post-industrial world and are surrounded by contaminants that may have effects on our health. Don't blame yourself for this illness.
