Hi,
What do you find most useful for the treatment of dry eyes? Mine are so dry and make me feel sleepy all the time. They get gunky in the corners too. I know my meds are partially responsible for this. Thanks for your comments!

Hi PoohP,
I use over the counter optive twice a day. When I am diligent I do not get the white junk in my eyes and it does help them feel better.
Hello! I use .
Sorry about that but I use restasis. I think that’s how it’s spelled.
I use systane
Yes I understand what ur going through . I can’t grasp how ur eyes can be so dry they tear and run like I am crying all day, be in so much pain but my I Dr. Has put 4 plugs in and on top 4 different eye drops and a pill from Walmart called Thera tears nutrition 1200 mg Omega-3 supplement w vitamin E. Hope this might give some help but I would talk to Dr. First
Opthamologist gave me Refresh Optive advanced
Eye drops
My ophthalmologist recommended “Blink Tears” eye drops and they’ve worked very well for me.
I use the Rephresh liqui gel drops and they seem to work really well for me. They also have an ointment you can put in your eyes before bed that helps too. I have bad dry eyes and have to carry my eye drops everywhere with me. :-/
My eye doctor recommend Systane Balance eye drops. I put 2 drops in each eye in the morning and at bedtime. They have really helped. My eyes were feeling really dry, burny and gritty. Good luck, hope this helps!
Systane and all natural eyedrops and vit e and fish oil lots or tea and water dry heat makes it worse
Hi
Have you checked with your eye doctor I had plugs put in a few years ago and they have helped. I also thought my eyes were drier than usual and waited to see the doctor I had an infection and had antibotics for my eyes for 3 months.
I have been fighting dry eyes for almost 30 years & have used most of the tear products including Restasis which only seemed to make my eyes burn worse. I got punctal plugs & was sensitive to the silicone & had to have them removed. Finally, since my eyes had no moisture & there wasn’t much of a chance of increasing tear production, my opthalmologist cauterized my tear ducts & closed them permanently. It has been wonderful for me. I also wear Lacrisert opthalmic inserts 12 hrs/day, use Thera Tears every 4 hrs, take 2000 mg flaxseed oil/day, & use Refresh PM ointment each pm. Also i avoid drafts & excessive heating/cooling when possible. Warm moist compresses really help as do humidifiers.also try wearing goggles @ night-they really help. Cauterizing tearducts is a permanent thing which should not be done if you produce enough tears to spill from your eyes & roll down your cheeks. Punctal plugs work well for those who can tolerate them. Good luck with your dryeye journey & keep trying to find a regimen that works for you.
I have had dry eyes for over seven years, during the day I use Bausch + Lomb Soothe eye drops. They come in a box of 28 individual sterile dispensers. Before I go to bed I use GenTeal lubricant eye ointment. These are the only ones I have found that works for me.
HELLO, POOHP. MY NAME IS LESLIE ( vegasgirl) I go too my optometrist reguarlly due to placquenil and she writes me rx for RESTASIS eye drops been on them 3 years not sure its helping they feel better I guess I don't rub eyes as often and they don't itch im sure its a regular treatment for lupus patients RESTASIS hope info helps have a wonderful day and go see eye dr. ASAP
I use Genteal eye ointment - makes your vision blurry for a few minutes but then it clears and your eyes stay comfortable, even with contact lenses.
I have lupus and Sjogrens. I have found it best to use drops without preservatives since we have to use them so often. The ones that come in individual vials. Otherwise, they seem to backfire. There are a few good ones. One of my favorites is Refresh Optive Sensitive (Preservative Free).
I have this issue as well, plus I had Lasik done about 15 years ago, which is also a contributing factor. My optho., who is monitoring me for the Plaquinel, recommended Systyne, it is OTC. It's not cheap, but worth it. I use the ointment of it at night too, when it seems I wake up with the worst problems.
Take care and good luck!
