I’ve recently had to stop working due to complications. Our savings have taken a big hit & we are struggling with dr. Bills. Does anyone know of any assistance? SS disablilty denied me & I can’t find a lawyer to take my case. Does anyone know of anything else?
Here is an article on negotiating medical bills, Nikki: http://www.forbes.com/sites/nextavenue/2013/01/15/6-ways-to-negotiate-lower-doctor-bills/2/
I have not heard of someone not being about to find a disability lawyer before. This site should be helpful to you: http://www.disabilitysecrets.com/disability-lawyer-representative-index.html
I used nationaly know Binder&Binder for my disablity. When I first applied a few years ago I did call Avril different Law Offices including bender and bender. I was still working but the very minimum hours disability allows and was told that I was not eligible to be represented by disability lawyer because I was working. A lawyer or a firm will not take your case if you are still working because its almost a hundred percent chance that you will be denied by the courts unless you are deemed terminally ill or are on dialysis. I called my local Social Security disability office to confirm information and they told me the same thing so its pointless to call lawyers and apply if you’re still working
First of all, I would like to say I am sorry you are going through this. I know Madere has shared some information with you. I know of an excellent Disability Attorney in Virginia, Sheri Abrams, (571) ■■■■■■■■. I know you live in Georgia, but perhaps she can give you some suggestions or insight into what your next step can be. She discussed some issues with me over the phone and there are also associates in her office that will talk to you and give a brief consult. Will keep you in my prayers. Try to stay strong...I know it's hard, but you have support! You are not alone.
When you say complications, I assume its from your lupus, you usually have to have been unable to work at least 6 months before you apply, and your disability has to documented that its going to last more than a year, and thats just for starters. Have you tried applying for any state assistance? Beyond that all I can say is good luck
