I work 28 hours a week and luckily my only real loss of time off work was 10 years ago during the 9 months it took to finally diagnose lupus , but left to me I would not work , pain to much at times , staggered by fact I cannot get invalidity/disability allowance , surely should be entitled I am now due to have splints for my hands
You should be able to get disability. Most states make it hard without out you getting a disability lawyer. The lawyer gets 25% of the first check, but that is a small price to pay to get it. You will need your doctor to agree that you should get it. If so, contact a lawyer. Make sure his/her ad in the phone book states that they work for the client to get disability. Also, I think it is better to get a small local firm so they are more apt to work hard for you and they are close enough you can keep in touch with them for updates and any questions you may have can be addressed.
Good luck!!
Thx lonely but I live in the uk
Hi, I don't mean to sound bitter, but I am. I have been fighting for disability since Dec 08. Denials, appeals, hearings, more denials. I have one last chance and it is to file a civil appeal in federal court. And since they wasted so much time I have run out of my points or quarters, whatever they are. I filed the first time by myself and then got an attorney. I just got my last denial two weeks ago. I was so mad and upset I just cried. My parents told me that they wanted to take up my fight for me. They have always been supportive but I just can't do it anymore. It is so stressful! None of my doctors can believe I have been denied.
Sorry, but I am just so tired of fighting. I hope you have better luck, you definitely deserve it!
Take care,
Wendy
