Celebrating

I know it doesn't sound like much but I am now allows to walk from my dining room table to my desk and back twice a day. That is about 10 feet both ways. I have to admit it wears me out but at least I get to walk.

Congratulations! One giant step for Lupus-kind! Do you have pain or can you walk it without any pain? A further hoorah for you if it's without pain.

I can walk it with minimal pain. It feels good to be able to stand again. I'm going to have to go in and get my prosthesis adjusted before I do too much walking because the damage to my hip has changed my stride.

SO HAPPY FOR YOU! Do you have a prosthetic foot or are you walking without a prosthetic? That's the equivalent of running a marathon for healthy people! May God help you achieve all your goals!

Soft hugs!

It sounds like a lot to me! I'm only 26, and walking up and down the stairs is hard for me, with 2 toddlers though it is necassary. When I go up and down without being out of breath, I rejoice!

Yes Shelia I have a prosthetic. A year ago I walked a quarter mile in a Boy Scout marathon to raise money for my grandson's troop. I was the top money raiser even though I only walked the quarter mile instead of the whole half marathon. I guess that is why I'm feeling terrible about loosing my ability to walk because of a stupid fall and then a mistake from a physical therapist. I had worked so hard to get to where I could walk that quarter mile. It wasn't all flat ground either it was on a rough mountain trail. My grandson had to explain to his troop why I wasn't participating this year. They are holding it next weekend. I had hoped to make it half a mile this year. Oh well life goes on and I'll be walking again. Maybe not the mountain trails but at least in and out of church.

Congratulations on your progress, I hope you get to reach your goals as soon as possible! Keep up the good work

Congrats, things will get better for you! ! Just hang in there Beverly L.

Hi, sorry for your pain, At times when I get up my body feels tight and achy, my doctor told me to get a cream called Capsaicin and when I apply it, it helps with the aching and painful muscles and tension. It only takes a little because to much will cause it to give the area a burning feeling. Also when I am sitting I take each leg back and forth at a time and count to ten,15 only what I can. Trying to keep them from stiffness, I pray in JESUS name for your healing and relief from so much pain, stay strong.

praying for total restoration in your body! That this Lupus will go into a complete remission and your body can began to heal! take care friend!

Thank you all for you prayers and good thoughts.

Another celebration, My doctor fell that since I have been in the wheelchair for so long that he wanted to make sure that I hadn't developed any blood clots. I went in this morning and I got the call this afternoon, ALL CLEAR. Now to build my stamina up a little without harming myself.

Great news Doggie! Start slow so you don't get hurt or sick, that's what makes people get sick. Start slow and slowly increase your goals. You'll be surprised how great it is to be able to increase your stamina and strength.

Sheila, I'm really working at keeping it slow. Not my normal mode of operation.
