How many women have Connective Disease/ Lupus from having had Breast Implants? I had them put in 1969 started getting ill in 1976
was told repeatedly it was not the BI's but did research and found that it was the cause. Had them removed in 1992 when diagnosis was ALS.
Have gotten much better since removal of BI's. Now a flare every 5 years or so.
Harder to get diagnosis as most docs buy into the party line that they are safe...as it is VERY big business and there are so many women that want them...especially after masectomy.
I had my implants put in in my 30’s, saline not silicone. At that point I had had lupus et al… for 20 years so implants did not cause mine nor did they make the disease worse. I had it done for reconstructive reasons after breastfeeding while taking prednisone. Prednisone makes your skin less elastic and I was an overachiever in the production of milk so I had stretch marks that were over an inch wide. My chest looked like two deflated balloons…lol
I have no problem with this....But shortly after my diagnosis my son called from the Air Force base and asked if I had implants, and I told him that if I had, he would have noticed !!!!!!! He thought that was a pretty funny thing for his Mom to say.
I do know several people that have had to have there's taken out, but there Lupus did not go away. So I would be interested to know more, just for info purposes.
Breast Implants :It is too bad that the medical community has turned a blind eye to silicone related diseases. If they were to study
the women that had implants...they all gel bleed silicone into the body...for those interested. Read Silicone-Gate by Henry Jenny, MD. The silicone used in the majority of implants was not really medical grade...often had heavy metal impurities and was not sterile. Unlike the sterile high grade very expensive silicone presented to FDA.
Then research might find a link to what causes Lupus in people who have not had implants or other silicone products.
There have been many actual studies done finding antibodies to the silicone...my daughter and I were in one that UC Davis did back in 1993 give or take a few years (I don't know how long study lasted.) I only know I had high antibodies to silicone and my daughter had normal blood work. I never saw any signs of the study being published...instead results were suppressed.
I know that the white blood cells called Macrophages try to rid the body of the foreign bodies so perhaps in non breast implant Lupus ?Mixed conn tissue body......there is something like heavy metals that get into the body from fillings with mercury in dental offices or living near industrial plants...lead that was in paint, breathing in hair spray with silicone.
I am interested to know if anyone hears of Lupus studies using Stem Cell replacement.
I think that there could be great hope in this area...but again...... those that have us at their mercy do not always act in our best interest. So we each need to take charge and explore what might work for us...if this site can offer one good idea to help others and ourselves be more well...it is more then worth it. Wingwalker
