Has anyone suffered from AVN due to prednisone use ? If so please share....
Yes I have AVN of both knees and both hips I underwent core decompression in 1994 which has helped preserve these joints I finally needed a total knee in 2008 but the other joints are holding up just fine
I had in in both my knees and my right hip, the decompression didnt work so all have been replaced. do you mind if I ask how much you were taking ?

UNBELIEVEABLE!! I THOUGHT I WAS WAS THE ONLY ONE WITH AVN..DUE TO BEING ON PREDNISONE FOR 12 YEARS NOW..IT DETERIORATED MY BONES SINCE 2005 OR 2006..I WENT TO PLENTY OF DOCTORS AND GUESS WHAT THEY SAID?? THERE'S NOT MUCH THEY CAN DO FOR ME RIGHT NOW BECAUSE I'M TO YOUNG IN THE NEAR FUTURE I CAN GET A ANKLE AND KNEE REPLACEMENT....I HAVE AVN IN BOTH KNEES BOTH ANKLES BOTH ELBOWS..BUT MY ANKLES HAVE THE MOST PAIN OF ALL..SOMETIMES ITS VERY DIFFICULT TO WALK, IT FEELS LIKE I'M GOING TO COLLAPSE ONE DAY.SOMETIMES ITS FEELS LIKE MY LEGS WANT TO GIVE OUT ON ME AT TIMES.. DESPITE THE UPS AND DOWNS I REMAIN OPTIMISTIC AT ALL TIMES..TAKE CARE WE ALL HAVE TO STAY STRONG FOR ONE ANOTHER..
I felt the same way, there are not many young people with fake knees and hip. I was only on prednisone for maybe a year but the damage was done. I have been off it for some time now and I refuse to start taking it again. Don't give up I know it can be very painful and exhausting but the replacements will be worth the wait. If you don't mind me asking how old are you? Im 25 and had my first surgery when I was 21.

I hope the member's have been able to help you in a large way and i am sorry to hear your suffering besides other member's through a steriod which is surposed to help we but can cause other issues besides.
