Does anyone here have avascular necrosis? I had an MRI which alarmed my never alarmed Rheumatologist. When he read the report about my left hip, told me to elevate my leg, lie in bed and see an orthopedist ASAP. I allowed myself a few google searches as I have been on 3 steroids w/o choice for over 7 years now, us found that everything on my MRI report was what one sees with AVN of hip, not to mention my symptoms. I got in very quickly, no referral or Rheumy call. He told me this Friday, and even stood w/ his nurse on what he has never done (1) Friday calls, as he closes down due to being SIL of Orthodox Rabbi, and 2)follow ups which are usually patient obligation. At 3:00 ish (office shuts down on Fri. at Noon) he wanted to know through her if I had gotten an appointment, and how soon? I told them my other unbelievable “miracle”: that I have Tues. this week (Hubby’s BIrthday) this week, (tomorrow) at 9:30! I could have one earlier if I had MD call, but I stuck with only weekend and until Tues. wait. I have effusion, edema on, in. Around (??I cannot remember) femoral head and acetebulum, and it is suffering from cartilage loss there: femoral head and weight bearing
acetebulum. I suffer (am somehow blessed usually w/ great stoicism) from unbelievable pain, cry, have had to move from my required (by Neuro) walker to wheelchair, and if I try to walk, the pain, which I have had checked ever since 2004, when I didn’t understand pain (!!), and showed up a “hematopoietic marrow” problem (AVN is lack of blood flow I gather) and was put on MS Contin in addition to my pre-existing pain treatment (after decade of every NSAID, Ultram, plaquenil, plasmapheresis and IVIG, more and more). Then the docs thought hematopoietic meant search for cancer (Lymphoma due to my Sjogren’s and lymph nodes, now in 50’s on methotrexate. I cannot take the biologics: another story for later. Anyway, walking makes me hurt through duragesic patch and MSContin and gives me a sort of paralysis in that I cannot make my left side move. Anyone recognize this or can tell me (please) I am wrong? I know it requires MD opinion. (My right hip is not as bad, but was predicted to follow.)
Second question very brief: I read with great attention to everything the discussion on TIAs and brain lesions. The side (almost) comment re re learning to talk, maybe Friends weren’t happy, really caught my attention. I have low sodium (condition is SIADH), hospital made very big mistake ; and result looked like right sided stroke. Now the part (I am told) of temporal lobe that controls cessation of speech is literally gone! As my DH says (oh dear) I married you (me) because you were quiet and shy even! Of course he loves me, but I even hate the sound of my voice, am often hoarse without GERD attack, and as I roils put it “gab, gab, babble babble.” No Speech cognitive therapist (even the great re hab at McGee has had any idea, and only one MD said “You just have to tell yourself to stop!!” Does anyone have TIAs (I do, but no strokes; my Neuro even “caught” me in middle of one. Or brain injury, or stroke?? That left them talking too much, like my Husband’s Early onset Parkinson’s tremors, during waking hours? Penny for your thoughts or speech!
