The Lupus Foundation (LFA) is a proud leader in the fight to End Lupus. Three key highlights of the LFA's 2012 achievements are:
1.Launched a national public awareness campaign, Help Us Solve the Cruel Mystery™ featuring a 45-foot bus with interactive exhibits that enable visitors to experience what it is like to live with lupus and a petition to Congress asking for their support in funding lupus research.
The Bus will be at the NYC Walk on Saturday May 18th with LFA Health Educator, Dawn Isherwood, to answer all your questions.
2.Founded the first-ever Congressional Lupus Caucus. In 2012, 57 Representatives joined the bipartisan Caucus to work in collaboration with the Lupus Foundation of America to ensure all Members of Congress truly understand the impact of lupus on individuals and their families, support to advance lupus research and improve awareness among the public and health professionals.
3.Research supported by the LFA was instrumental in the development of a new test by Exagen Diagnostics, Inc. to help physicians make a faster and more accurate diagnosis of lupus. The new test will help rule in lupus and rule out other rheumatic diseases, while also helping physicians to better manage the disease and potentially prevent life-threatening complications of lupus.
