Wrist pain

Hello Deanna,

Sorry to hear you've gone through such alot with your issues and Deenie as proceeded in meeting member's with Tumid Lupus because of it being rare and now you joining the site and bringing forward information on TOS...this for one is a good highlight for such as Deenie because some member's join with issues not heard of.

I would be very grateful indeed if you could do a thread on this in the Discussions part....as this alone will help other's member's and if you can attach links besides with full information for member's to read.

It will be nice getting to know you Terri xxx

I would ask about TOS- thoracic outlet syndrome. It's when your first rib and collar bone press together pinching off the nerves n blood vessels n arteries. There aren't many surgeons that perform this procedure n it sounded crazy to me but it has changed my life! For the procedure they removed my entire first rib and part of the chest muscle. I was on pain killers n muscle relaxers for about 18 months before they could figure out what was causing so much pain. It's different for everyone but for me it caused horrible neck pain that wraps around my face and into my eyes and causes pain in my shoulder, shoulder blade, the outside half of my arm, my wrist, half my hand n my pinkie n ring finger. It can ache, hurt, go numb or just cause horrible pain. I have an awesome pain tolerance but this isn't always controllable. Sometimes the percocet, dilaudid n strong muscle relaxers can't even touch it.

hi sk, I haven't been on line in a while.I have to type one handed so its hard for me to keep up,I saw your post and had to respond..I too have been battling wrist problems for 7 yrs,,I thought i had carpel tunnel, because i had been a bar tender/cocktail server for yrs,so to me it was a givin that i was so sure i had carpel tunnel!! I have been having corticosteroidsshot in to my wrists and middle finger so i can do the basic day to day things most people take for granted..SO the bad news..the lupus is causing the lunate bones in my wrist to erode...we finally went to the best of the best hand surgen in portland oregon and he said he could not fix my hands, wrists, sclerotic carpel lunate bone of the proximal carpel row and spontaneous avascular necrotic erosion....the only fix is fusion..I will never work again...I would hope and pray its just carpel tunnel...ask your doctor about voltaren gel it is a topical pain med you rub in ,like ben gay..you can only get it from the doc..it takes the edge off..good luck your in my prayers...celeste
