Hi everyone,I got my cast off,5 months,5 casts…I’m wearing a brace that can only come off to shower,"it’s so nice to be able to wash it and put lotion on it…The question is? How well will it work? I started having problems yrs ago with my hands,my right hand only has two fingers that work real well and my left just came out of the cast,my wrist bones actually started eroading away when I was working as a bar tender,I thought I had carpel tunnel,it made perfect sense to me after yrs of flipping liquor bottles…I was shocked at the damage the lupus has caused my hands and wrists,.not an eazy fix.it is now doing the same to my feet and ankles…I’m so pissed!!SORRY…anyone else have this problem??
Celeste, I am new to the site, diagnosed seeveral years ago with Lupus Anticoagulant, but with many Lupus like symptoms. I am having more and more trouble with my wrist, thumbs and hands in general. The pain first started in my thumbs joints, then my wrists, fingers m ad hands in general. I am right handed but for some weird reason my left thumb joint is so painful I finally had to give in and allow the doctor to rebuild the joint. I was told I had carpal tunnel in both wrists so when he operated on the thumb had him address the carpal tunnel too. It has now been eight months since the surgery and wish I could say pain is gone. Unfortunately, not and now it seems to be spreading some. There are days it feels like I will not be able to use them and they ache all day. I also have problems with my shoulders, neck, lower back, hips, knees, ankles and feet. I am a retired Army Soldier of 25+ years service where I was Airborne (Paratrooper), Ranger, Pathfinder, Infantryman which was a lot of wear and tear on the body, but it is really wearing me out! So I can definitely relate. Steve
Thank you for serving our country. I hope the VA is taking great care of you, I am wanting to believe they are. I was in the Army but the career I had planned out was cut extremely short by lupus. I wish I could have served as long as you did. That is my only regret. Much respect due to you. God Bless You

Thank you Ann,I’m happy to be able to wash it and put lotion on it,My dr ordered a custom made brace I have to wear at all times,it only comes off to shower…however I love it!! My hands will never be the same.its so difficult to do things…I’m so stubborn,I want to try to do everything for myself before I ask someone to help me…I did break down and hire a house keeper, against my better judgement.I want to do as much for myself as I can before my body won’t allow me to…I’m sure everyone here can truly understand that.
I hope your doing well Ann,your such a trooper and quite an inspiration to me when I need to check my attitude,I did some retail therapy today and shopped with my daughter for my granddaughters birthday, she’s 14 this month and of course I had to buy myself a birthday present as well…Jessica Simpsons fancy love perfume one of my favorites…51 April 27,I was 36 when my granddaughter was born…I have 3 other grandchildren as well…one of my biggest joys in life…LOL
