Aside from the usual bouquet of flowers and basket of fruits, I'd like to hear your suggestions, especially from patients, as you would know from your end what cheers up a sick person.
I will be compiling the answers on a future write-up.
A sort of what would "do unto others as you would have them do to you" affair. :-)
i know i may be a little weird, but i love it when people read to me...or even better: sing. Some yoga teachers sing to the class during savasana and i love love love it. So that is what I would like a friend or loved one to do for me when I am sick.
I know what i'd love besides seeing nobody in general everyday besides my hubby.
A good old chat about anything...if i needed to discuss any worrying issues a friends ear who could listen to what's troubling me without the old school teacher lecture talk.
"Oh an a good old massage of someone who could do it"
Laughter really is the best medicine… so watching a funny movie together or just chatting and “keeping it light”. I think “time” is the best gift. It always makes me feel better when my hubby has taken care of the mundane choirs so I don’t have to worry about the sink full of dishes or if the garbage was taken out.
This is not an easy question to answer, as there are many things that I may like, but that doesn't mean they would "comfort " me. So, I thought about this and I would just like someone to visit and make me a nice "homeade" meal...like an Italian soup or something like this. Then I would like to just drift off to sleep.....lol I would love for someone to come in and help me with cleaning that my husband doesn't consider important....lol (my dresser gets soooo cluttered), but that wouldn't necessarily comfort me.
So, the little visit and "comfort food" would comfort me. Thanks for posting this thread. It's nice to think of things that would comfort us ;)
Hi Armando Abrero,. I think sometimes there isnt alot you can do, except for be there and chat about whatever subject comes up in a conversation. Perhaps make them a nice drink of something, maybe tea if thats what they drink, but lending a listening ear can be the best thing someone can do when someone is sick, or even just being with them for company if the person is on their own alot of the time, just having someone with them as company can brighten someone's day. love and hug Astridxoxo
