One of my first symptoms was waking up with very painful hip and shoulder pain as well as migraines. I'm trying different medicine "cocktails" to find a way to sleep. good luck!
This is one of the harder parts of my lupus. Sorry you have it too. I do wake up in so much pain I can barely move or roll over. My lupus is severe enough now that I'm on pain meds, so at night I put a pain pill and glass of water on my bedside table, then I wake up about 6 and take the medicine, then try to go back to sleep until the pain medicine starts to work. I do remember before I had pain meds though, I just had to slowly stretch and get moving, trying to muffle my crying or moaning so I wouldn't upset hubby.
I don't think there's a member out there who does'nt suffer like that and me and sheila have alot in common...taking pain meds and trying to cope best possible but i highly suggest this also put a pillow in the middle of your back for soft support as i've done this in the past and it's helped me when i've been doubled with pain and when moving do it slowly to the advantage of what your body allows you.
Call your Rheumatologist & tell your symptoms. You may be in a flare up. I've had awful pain, difficulty sleeping. The pain is severe in a Lupus flare. I've had problems sleeping since diagnosis & take sleeping pills. I also have migraines especially when it's HOT. If you're in a Lupus flare the Dr should be called. I ended up seeing a Pain Specialist Dr who put me on 5 mg of Methadone 3 x day, he said it was safer than NSAIDS. I've had Lupus for 20 yrs, I guess I just got used to the symptoms. The pain got less for me but it took a long time. You don't need to suffer, call your Dr & get relief.
