The presurgical treatment that I was given for neuropathic pain was anticonvulsant medications. The one that I accepted for the longest period of time was Gabapentin (Neurontin). I took several others at different points, but it was the one with the most manageable side effects. These drugs do interfere with vitamin D metabolism, so being on them long term requires increased vitamin D supplementation. My pain management doc was ready for me to try Lyrica. But I declined that offer when he told me that it would make me tired. Doc, I told him, I am already fighing lupus fatigue. Why in the world would I take some thing that will make fell more tired than I already am.

I can relate!!! I get numbness behind my right knee often. Back in march (before my diagnosis) I had vibrations on the bottom of my right foot! Felt like I had a cell phone stuck in there. Beyond frustrating!! It eventually stopped on its own.
Good luck with your doctor. Hopefully it stops soon. :frowning:

I have UCTD and neuropathy for last 12 years. Bad spinal stenosis. Seems like alot of us here have these symptoms. Wondering who has bad back and neck issues and is this common in lupus Was onpmaquinil aim beginning of this journey. Think it helped a bit. Not sure

Oh yea…I need a lumbar fusion…don’t want to. Already had a double laminectyomy and discectomy with decompression. Starting with neck issues the last 2 days. So many degenerative conditions. That’s originally what prompted me to go to a rheumy. Definitely all interrelated.

Hi, I went to veins specialist, about a week ago. He told me that have something going on with my lumbar spine, (I have never heard of this ), and i also have a dick that degenerative, so I contact my doctor , he states that he does not know anything about this and he will have to contact my primary doctor have him to refer my to a specialist in that field. I don' won't any more doctors , nor do it want any more meds, am lost with this , I just don't think about my hip any more and want all this stuff to go away....Beverly L. Jend719 said:

Walking at times just really suck!!! Especially when your having a bad Flare!! When my feet swell, I just stay in the bed, only to go to the bathroom, and back to bed I go. Hope this get better for you walking is not a good ideal when this is happening…Beverly L.
