Tattoo

Can I still get one? Had an appointment, then got diagnosed.

With your skin infections that you keep getting I think it would be a good idea to ask your doctor.

Thanks, but He didn’t have an answer. When I asked about sun exposure he looked at me like I was crazy and said if I hadn’t had a reaction before then it shouldn’t be a problem. So just trying g to get opinions.

I really don't know but you have to be very careful of the ink type used. Your immune system might go crazy with the foreign ink in your skin. You need a doctor that better understands lupus, sun exposure makes most of us sicker. Maybe a dermatologist could help you. Good luck keep us posted.

I know, I’m really scared, but I really want this tattoo. It means something to me. My doctor is a rheumatologist. I’m not sure if I’ll stick with him or switch to one of the other two in the group. Here I am, sick as a dog, my arms looked horrible. I’ve already been given the SLE diagnosis by my primary dr after the labs. This Dr looks at me and says “So, what brought you in today?” And really looked at me like I was nuts when I asked about sun exposure, “why would you think you couldn’t be in the sun?”…ummmmm…because everywhere you read says NO!!! Not the best first impression, especially when I think I wanted sympathy.
My husband is great, he teases me a lot. I think it’s easier than being scared when he sees me get out of bed and use the wall to walk, or if I do too much and I’m just wiped.
Really glad I found this site, so many great topics and advice.
I’m hoping I can do this without meds. I’ve been sick off and on and hurting for a few years. Just tried to deal with it as I just thought I was “falling apart”

Tonya, didn't the rheumatologist want you to take Plaquenil? You really need something so that your internal organs are not affected by the lupus. It will also help your skin problems. Very few people can fight this without medication. It takes awhile for the medication to kick in but it is so worth it.

Geneva, he hasn’t mentioned any treatment or meds but I’ve only seen him once. He ordered a ton of labs and said see you in 3 weeks.

Well maybe he is just being conserative. But since you were already diagnosed one of them should have given you some medication! My labs usually come out negative lately, but that doesn't mean I don't have lupus. It's very hard to diagnos this disease. Hang in there and let us know what happens.
