Ringing Ears

I was wondering, does anyone have a constant ringing/buzzing in your ears. My neuro said it was from antibiotics in massive doses and that it would go away after getting off said meds. Many moons later here I am still ringing and it is driving me crazy!! Any ideas friends? I do have TMJ but oral/max facial surgeon said it was unrelated.

Yes I also have this, especially when allergies are kicking in. I’ll tal advice also!

Hi friends, I have this ringing in the ears as well, my doctor said it was tinitis. I’ve had it for about 15 yrs. I’ve learnt to live with it but it was very hard in the beginning. It seems worst at night but that’s when it is the quietest. I hope for your sake it goes but I wish you all th best.

I’m right there with everyone. Diagnosed 1 yr ago with tinnitus here for about 6 months. My music and headphones block most of mine out.

Yes, I have had the ear ringing / tinitis, for years and I have noticed also that it is worse when my allergies or lupus is flaring. I, too, have learned to live with it and tolerate it, it is sort of like "background noise" for me now. My Dr. says is it a result of lupus.

Yes, I also have Tinnitus (ringing in my ears) I have had it for years now. A very long time before my Lupus was diagnosed. I don't know what caused it, but so far Drs have no answers for stopping it. It can be distracting and mine has caused hearing loss. I wish I had some answers for you, good luck.

I have ringing in my ears. Have noticed a possible connection between the ringing and Gluten consumption. Started a Gluten free diet a couple weeks ago. At some points the ringing completely went a way. I had that feeling that I forgotten something. I've had the ringing in my ears for close to 10 years. Some days it is so loud I can't hear my own thoughts. On days like this I have to think out loud to myself. When the ringing does get that bad I make a lot of sound effects. My close friends have gotten used to it but strangers have a tendency to look at me funny. Not completely sure if it is the Gluten, my Lupus allergies or sounds silly but possibly in some way odd way my IBS/Spastic Colon. Jury is still out on this theory. I have had Lupus for many many years but was just diagnosed last fall. Still trying to work things out and find a happy medium.

Yes I have very bad ringing in my ears! Hate it!

Yes, I have it bad too.I noticed that when I went from one Plaquinil to two, it got worse. Doctors never gave me an answer to the cause, so I always believed that It was Plaquinil. I really hate the trend of open concept noisy restaurants! Also, I have to leave the TV on really low in order to sleep. It sort of cancels out the ringing.

OMG!!!!!! I thought I was the only one having this issue. I don't have the ringing but I do get the buzzing. I thought that a bug had crawled in my ear and never came out. LOL!!!! It drives me crazy especially when I am sitting in a quiet room. I am not on any antibiotics so I have no idea what this is all about. I hope someone can shed some insight on this. Have a wonderful and blessed day!!!!!!!

My Grandmother suffered with Menier's Disease for years and rining/buzzing/roaring/whistling/hissing is one fo the symptoms. She also had problems with balance, vertigo and nausea when she would have a really bad episode. You might see an ENT to be sure it's not something like this. It is chronic, but they do have meds to help. Good luck and I Hope you find something that helps!

This is going to sound REALLY weird, but I sometimes hear music...it's mostly at night, but occasionally during the day if I am alone and it is completely quiet. I've searched for a source (i.e., a radio in one of our packed boxes or something) and never found it. At night when I hear it, sometimes if I turn my head a certain way it goes away and I usually no longer hear it if I sit up. And it's always instrumental, no vocals, but not always the same type of music...sometimes classical, sometimes jazzy, a little rock and roll. Very, very strange and completely unexplicable! Either I have ghosties who like music or I'm truly going crazy. Either way, I don't let it bother me any more...I just try to relax and enjoy the music :-)

I too have experienced music of different types. I also have just accepted it. Strange though as I don't always know the tune.

I usually don't know the tune either...its like snippets from a song here or there, and sometimes replays itself. Wow, I really do sound crazy now!!!!

No you don't sound crazy...at least if your gonna have Tinnitus it has rhythm LOL I kinda like it now when the music starts...it is pleasant.

The ringing has been with me a long, long time and I too was told it is tinnitus.Happened before diagnosis but I probably had the lupus then and before a lot of meds. I usually just ignore it. For mothers out there....it is sort of how you tune out your little ones unless you need to tune back in to them! LOL Really, that is what it is like for me. I could tune out normal playing noises but heard anything stressful or if they needed me. I was never told there is a med for it but then I don't want anymore meds if I can help it.

Hello Kim,

Ringing in the ears and buzzing i get ocassionally and i should'nt do this but i hit my ears as it kind of drums my head out.

I have TMJ Disease also and it can cause this issue, vertigo can besides tinnitus which as been mentioned by a couple of members i've noticed and is mainly a large problems with this, over time it's affected my earring loss.

I know 3 friends who got great relief from this supplement. You have to take it daily for a little while though.. It doesn't work like a painkiller would work. Don't just take it once and give up on it. http://www.lipoflavonoid.com/

I have had this for a year now and my doctors can't tell me anything but it's bothering me something awful...........I guess I'll try again and go back to the doctor. Is there anything I can take for it.

Carol

Hello Carol,

When these issues arise...you should ask to see an ENT specialist as they cover this field of work...the link below explains things used but Carol please get them checked with your doctor first.
