Restless Leg Syndrome

I was wondering if any of you have had to deal with Restless Leg Syndrome? I have it so bad that I find myself rocking back and forth in pain. Sometimes it brings on my neuropathy in my right thigh and I am up till all hours of the night. Sometimes I am so exhausted I fall asleep sitting up. Do any of you have something that works for you?

Thank you.

AuntPearl,
I recently had a sleep study to rule out sleep apnea, which they did, but found I had RLS. I didn’t know that was part of my problem, but now that it has been diagnosed, it makes sense. I was put on med called neupro (patch). I don’t think it is helping yet, but as with so many of the Rxs I take, it will probably be a couple of months before it starts to help. I wouldn’t have had any idea if I hadn’t done the sleep study.

Thanks so much Sunflower. I am going to check into that patch.

i have restless leg but it has never been painful check with your doctor because it is not suppose to be just aggravating and loss of sleep, i get up and walk around for a bit or get on treadmill and that helps sometimes nothing helps, good luck

seriously go to your regular doc on that. becuase it really has something ot do with thnervous system which yes--is usually affected by lupus. but thaat doc can get you the care you need fasxter.

sometimes at night when its so bad i cant sleep. i have to take a pain pill just to relax my muscles.

so i comepletely understand.

i am glad u posted this.... i am going to mention this to my doctor this week ,,,this has gone on too long.

I haven't been diagnosed with it but I do think I have it.. I lay in bed some nights and have to keep moving constantly cuz my legs feel sooo funny, like I have to move them.. and sometimes it feels like something is crawling on me and I stay still to get a good look and nothing is there. I would definitely ask your doc about it, especially if it's painful..

Oh I have definitely asked my doctor about this. I was diagnosed with Restless Leg Syndrome many, many years before Lupus. I have been told that my aunt had it when she was young but of course back then it didn't have a name. I take a drug called Requip for it and it does help but some nights nothing seems to help and I am up all night.

Thanks for all your comments.

Take care.
