I was wondering if anyone had this happen to them. For about couple of weeks, I have been having this red blotchy, patchy toward the bottom of my leg just before my ankle. It is very noticeable from others and I will have this sharp pain on top of my foot that at times will prevent me from literally walking. It 's like someone stuck pin/needles under my foot. I am thinking this is a flare for me but just wanted to ask to see if anyone else had the same issue.
There are medications that can help with it. I haven’t been treated yet for it so I am insure if the medications cure it or just help control it.
I used to always sit on my feet and legs. I started to notice my knees would hurt intensely from it. They would often fall asleep and I started getting darkening and hardening of the skin on my feet. I have stoppes trying to sit on my feet and legs.
Michelle, I have both symptoms. The red splotches are a part of lupus and I have had them for several years now. They fade and get better then come back stronger at other times. And the pain and tinglings is what Kel said. I have been on medication for the neuropathy but the side effects from neurontin is bad for me and in fact my entire family....a son and my sisters. Good luck!
Michelle, I have neuropathy specifically in my right thigh. It feels like a put my finger in a light socket...like a surge of electricity is going through me just a that very point in my thigh. I was getting ready to have one of my many, many surgeries on my knees and thought well if I can get rid of this maybe I would be just a little more comfortable during rehab. My rheumatologist sometimes gives me six shots of cortisone in my hips (at all pressure points that hurt terrible when she touches them). It seems like that really helps for a while and then sure enough that neuropathy comes right back. It is really nice to have to have one symptom disappear for a while.
Yes, that is exactly how my left feet feels. I did not know what to do I just assumed something was wrong but not sure. It is just like that a surge of electricity and I am unable to walk until it disappear I guess or when I sit down. I could be just watching tv sitting down nothing wrong and soon as i stand up; its like WOWWWWWWWWWWW. It comes and goes but you never know when it comes. I guess I should talk to my rheumy now instead of waiting until my next appointment which is in September.
Hi, I have a similar neuropathy on my right thigh. When I stand too long it goes numb and then hurts if I am unable to get off my feet. My rheumatologist thought it might be a nerve, the name of which I do not remember, that runs from the hip bone to the pubic bone and might be pinched. Other than surgery there was no help for it. It hardly seemed to me worth the risk of surgery.

I have it in my left thigh. It is neuralgia paresthetica. I get it worse when I lay down in bed. It seems to help when I am more active rather then sedentary. It burns so badly that twice I have awakened myself and my husband screaming with the pain. I have considered surgery it is so bad. Right now I am getting epidurals again in L3 spine where I have another ruptured disc to see if that can get the pain to lessen. It hasn't helped in the past 3 years but new state, new doctor, gotta do it all again. Almost forgot, I was taught an accupressure point in the groin to hold until you feel the release. Then move it a bit and do it again. etc. It does help but is much better if someone does it for you. It hurts at first but when the release comes it is wonderful.
Thanks all for your informative response. Its something that does not happen everyday but the uncomfortable feeling of when I am walking is very evident.
yes pins and needles under your foot is surely neurothapy, I have that also. As for red patches, it could also be bad circulation, check with a vascular doctor or its a form of Lupus. I have red patches from before I was diagnosed , no one knew where it came from, not its Lupus.
