My baby is sick

So my six year old (his name is Timothy AKA Nunu) had been complaining that his legs hurt, I thought that it was just growing pains but I took him into his dr anyways to just get it checked out. They drew labs yesterday and the dr called me this afternoon, my baby has a RF of 59 normal is below 15. His kidney counts are off too, but she said that he may be needing to drink more water. She said it looks like he has juvenile RA and they are sending him to Carrie Tingly to a specialist at the childrens hospital.

I dont know what to think, I just want to scream already. I cant believe that all this crap is happening. I just keep asking why. I dont want to see my baby suffer. This just isnt right.

Im trying to stay calm because I know that if I get upset I will get worse.

im so sorry for the news. my brother had ra as a child and he outgrew it...so maybe...

but i will keep you in my prayers

Thank you Janice

So sorry to hear that Nunu may have RA. Nothing worse than a child in pain. I will light I candle for him at tomorrow's healing mass and pray a novena for his good health. In the meantime, I will trust that you will spoil him with lots of hugs and kisses. hugs & pax, pj

I am so sorry to hear this. Try to stay calm, you will have to be stong for him. Just take things one day at a time.

I will keep you all in my prayers, and hope for the best! Don't give up, have faith & just be there for him.....Thinking of you all..xo Suzie :'(

Thank you all for the support, we should know soon what we are dealing with. Today I had to keep him home from school, just to be with him. We had lunch and vegged out at home and watched the smurfs :)

I understand your frustration. My youngest daughter has had some difficult health issues in the past. My heart just breaks for her everytime something came up. She had pustular psoriasis from 4-11, two seizures at 12, started having tendon and joint issues at 16, dx with psoriatic arthritis at 17. Everytime I just wanted to have her by my side constantly, blamed my bad genetics, cried a bunch, etc. It’s hard because you honestly would rather it was you. I hope the doctors are wrong, but if they aren’t you will cope because that’s what moms do. It’s probably harder on you than him! A positive to keep in mind: I believe when children develop ra early it tends to be a milder form and not as destructive (I’m sure you’ve googled the hell out of it already!). My sister-in-law has had juvenile ra since she was two. She’s 36 now and in pretty good shape, no major issues. Try to stay positive, try not to stay up all night worrying (I know you will!) and take care of yourself too! I’ll be sending positive energy your way!

Ann,

He is doing better he actually went to school today after a lot of pushing him to go. He is in a lot of pain in the mornings and its been cold so I imgaine that doesnt help him. I know how the weather makes me feel and it makes me sad to think that he is feeling the same way. I am still waiting for the childrens hospital to call me. There is only one pediatric rheumatologist in the state so I am wondering if there is a huge wait. In the meantime I am giving him advil. As for me I am hanging in there, I am still not feeling good and waiting for the dr to put me on immuran but that wont happen till December when I see him next. I would rather try the MTX but he says that its an old med and that the new ones have less side effects. I think I may bring it up again when I see him. How are you feeling, are you healing well?

Rachel,

Thank you so much, we need all the prayers that we can get. I really hope that I like his dr because she is the only one and we will be stuck with her. Im staying strong and keeping my composure around him because I dont want to scare him.

poor baby...i will keep him and his mommy in prayer

I’m so sorry about your son. Its so frustrating I have 3 daughters twins 10 n my oldest is 12. My 12 year old has had health probs since she’s 3 years old. She had pain in her back n neck they ran all kinds of tests n nothing showed. She still has pains her joints hurt n swell at times. She also gets headaches. They tested her for Lupus n it was normal I think its not showing because of her age n cause she didn’t get her menstrual period yet. Well I wish u all the luck. I hope n pray that your son n you feel better.
