Methyltrexate

I have lost 28 pounds now after starting this medicine. When does the nausea and vomiting end! I also have rheumatoid arthritis and have trouble determining where the pain is coming from. I still have a diagnosis based on symptomology except for changes on MRI but was told this could be MS. I just need answers and help on what to do next.

Thanks I will leave my doc a message

I take methotrexate as well I haven’t had any problems with it and nausea. I take 8 pills on the same day of every week. My doc put be on folic acid daily said it would help with any nausea or upset stomach that any of my meds may cause. So far so good. Ask or doc about that if u have not already. I hope things get better for you.

When I was on both Methotrexate and Arava I lost weight, got sores in my mouth and loss some of my hair. Went off and mouth sores cleared up and I gained weight back. I know someone who takes Methotrexate and she has to take it once a week in divided doses. I think you can get it my infusion if it is too hard on stomach. So many autoimmune disorders mimic each other. Talk to your doctor about a different med is my suggestions. You shouldn’t have to get sick constantly to treat RA. There are a lot of other meds out there.

My MD just prescribed it I am having serious thoughts about the possible loss of hair. I’m going to ask for an alterative. Any suggeztions

I was on it for about 5 months a couple of years ago but it increases my blood clotting active and my joints continued to crumble so it didn't work for me.I t was self injected once a week, I felt awful for a few days after. took zofran for the nausea and folic acid witch is always pricribed with methotrexate to help replace what the drug will destroy and its supposed to help with less hair loss. I didn't notice any crazy weight loss, im already very small and don't eat much so it didn't make a difference in that department:) there are many different good biologic drugs to treat RA (humeria, Enbrel),Methotrexate is a chemo therapy but used in much smaller doses than when treating cancer.

I did great on sulfasalazine for my back pain. May ask about it.

I got new info from rheumy today. My labs indicate I do have lupus. The diagnosis has finally come. What is overwhelming is that I have fibromyalgia, MS, and rheumatoid arthritis. I cannot be this sick! I have a special needs daughter and no support system. I do not have enough life insurance and I will not be able to get any now. What am I to do.?

I know how it feels to be in disbelief about how sick you are. I’d say the majority of us have multiple diseases/syndromes. Day by day is all I do.
