Memory loss

I am seriously losing it. I am losing track of bills and checks, appointments, I even left the gas stove on when I left the house. What can I do? I’m only 31 and I feel like I’m ruining everything. I have a wonderfully understanding husband but he already does so much. I hate having to stress him out with having to control the finances too. But I feel like if I keep doing them I could really get us in trouble financially, and not on purpose. So stressed and sad.

Hello Julie,

Thanks mate, with what's going on with me i don't know how my body is doing half it's capacity.lol

Hugs Terri xxx

Just have to say that YOU working at half capacity is like someone else working at full. That goes for each and every person here with lupus who deals with the day to day trials we face with such an unpredictable disease.

Don't let it stop you from enjoying the moment! Love Julie

Hello DeAnne,

Just call your memory loss...a very bad foggy day with Lupus.

It's took me to the extremes where i've been on the spot for how long i'm not sure and ste's found me like it and really had to pronounce my name so my senses came back into reality...everything that registers our body comes from our CNS the brain and if it can cause so much damage to our bodies then what the hell is going on with our minds. :)

P.S Like Sheila mentioned it is alot worse when fibro is also connected with it.

Hi Sheila,

I hope it helps in one way or another but this loss of memory is a total nightmare and does make we feel like we're losing the plot :)

Hello DesireaLynn,

Your not seriously losing it, it's how your system is at the time of your memory playing up and if your hubby is understanding like mine then speak with him about him seeing to the bills because it's better to be ontop of issues, than issues going under.

It does get we all down your not on your own there because we have enough to suffer without our brain going the same way but my concern is the gas being left on...this must be mentioned to someone so it can be checked.

All my love and concern to you Terri :)

Hello DeAnne,

I hope this puts a smile to your face...across the road from where we live is an home for the elderly...don't worry about you and your hubby it should be me worrying.

Ste my hubby said if i carry on like it, he'll have me admitted and he's only got to cross the road to visit me (How cheaps that then mate)

Hugs Terri :)

Thanks guys,

you put things in perspective. I just couldn't believe I actually drove myself to a Dr., had tests, and made a follow up and had NO recollection. Then last week I went to my nephrologist for my kidneys, I go every week, I got lost. Not to sound conceited but I (had) a high I.Q., taught school, and worked in finance. My husband is smart, driven, and we (have) had intelligent conversations. I feel like if I lose anymore of my old self I might lose him. That is the biggest fear I have. I just have to keep keeping on. I have extended family that has become closer for which I am thankful but can't help being scared.

It is a pain my son reminds me of everything I guess writing it down doesn’t help then I forget where I put it lol it’s like my brain is a marshmellow.best wishes

Oh yes it really is !!! But writting things down as soon as things happen !!! Yeah you will get tired of finding little pieces of paper laying around but it helps - smile .. But over all, it is part of" LUPUS FOG" ... LOL i have it all the time ! now everyone just keep talking until i can remember what the conversation is about - i laugh now at myself alot !!! to keep from crying ...good luck with these moments you are having ... take care .. Beverly L.

I found several big notes taped around the house when I woke. "you can't drive because you get lost" "be ready at 12:10" "please feed dogs" "love you!". I think we are working on a system that might work. Invest in large sticky notes. About the crying part Beverly, I don't know why, but I will just be sitting or waking up and I will just start crying. Wierd.

Thanks to all of the wonderful wishes.

It's a terrible issue we go through and all we can do is bare with it....bless you all :)

Tez_20,

My husband is very sweet and he puts these notes up in a joking fashion. I think it less scary for both of us...you know "this is your bed, you sleep here not the couch", "your toothbrush", etc. I checked my phone this morning and I have all these reminders about Dr. appts. Actually new appts because I couldn't remember to go. Appts on every day next week. Definitely gonna need the notes :). It was every doc in 1 week or flown to UCLA. Gonna really need to know where the bed is...:)

XOXO my dear friends,

DeAnne

redwingfan,

That driving one, I REALLY feel. That's why my husband makes the silly notes...no driving cuz you wont find your way home. It's a joke and he knows we are working on solutions. I don't feel quite as bad because in a way, he is able to understand my frustration. If we are working on it together, it's only 1/2 as hard. Hope you have people in your life that will be that other 1/2 or more. It's very helpful.

Hugs,

DeAnne

I have found that the more active the lupus is, the more likely I am to have memory issues. We all do things like misplace our keys occasionally, but I have become lost (more than once) in a Wal-Mart that i go to nearly every week - I was right in the middle of the store and couldn't figure out in which direction to go to get out. The scariest thing was when I was driving and could not remember where I was going. I was alert, knew where I was, and was perfectly safe driving... i just couldn't recall where I was going, even though I had left the house 10 minutes before, specifically to go there.

I also have fibro, but the memory issues are lupus related, for me. The lupus has been under much better control for the last 6 months or so and I haven't had any unusual memory or "foggy" issues since then.

Hello DeAnne,

It's so lovely to have an husband so caring and it goes a good way with us when we need support and i thought i usually have a busy calender your out doing me my friend.lol

Love ya loads mate :) xxx
