Well, I've now been diagnosed with Sjorgen's Syndrome as well. So, the chronic throat pain even after my tonsils came out makes a little more sense.
I've been in a pretty good flare for the past week or so, but have had more travel than I would prefer lately for work. The last trip I came back, I lost my voice for two weeks and had to go through 2 rounds of antibiotics. I just got back from another one yesterday and am in so much pain (joints), my throat is raw and I can't think straight from the complete exhaustion.
How do you cope when you have to travel for work, but are sick?
I try to build in a travel day whenever possible, so I can rest for a day either at the end or beginning of my trip. I travel quite a bit for work, so whenever I can I try to schedule my trips around the weekends, Monday meeting fly in on Sunday and rest that day or Come home on a Thursday and take Friday off for a long holiday. I have Sjogren's too, I make sure I drink copious amounts of water to stay hydrated. Especially when I fly. I take the little golf carts in the airport, even though people look at me like I'm lazy. I wear wrists splints even though I don't really need them, but people are more apt to help me put things in the overhead, which helps with my elbow joint pain. Hope some of this helps.
The extra day is a wonderful idea. I got home at 7 last night, and wish I would have just stayed home today rather than work. Or at least worked from home.
Are you mostly in meetings when you travel or on your feet a lot? I'm usually at trade shows on my feet and talking all day long, so that exacerbates the symptoms even more.
My boss knows I have Lupus, but doesn't understand the ramifications, I don't think. :(

I am in meeting and don't have to do too much walking. A word of warning about being on your feet a lot. Make sure you wear compression hose, they say there is no connection, but I was recently diagnosed with venous insufficiency on both of my legs. I am home right now recuperating from laser surgery to correct " leaking veins"..
My boss is pretty cool, but I think it's just so hard for people to truly know what you are going through unless they are going through it themselves. I work from home whenever I feel even a little peaked if I can. It took me a while to realize my "diffrentations" instead of limitations. But I sleep late on the weekends, I rest up for big events and have learned to say no...
I have Sjongren too… The sore throat is not too bad but the dry mouth got so bad at one poin that it triggered a decay in my teeth so bad an fast that I had to spend a fortune with the dentist the doctor put me on a medication that had more side effects than promised benefits.
I will be known soon in this site for the annoying diet lady , but the reality of it all is that I am texting you from the gym after spending almost two years in bed. My kidneys started to acted up, my legs and hands were very swollen until I started this diet. My advice is if nothing else stop alcohol and drink little as possible of decaf,
I was re reding some of the answers I had about the diet, and I have a question for all of you, people I feel so close and I don’t even know you
I know when you read the long list of food you have to eliminate( not for ever) it sound like life is not worth living… Well is it worth it now?!
I don’t have an answer in how to cope with the people that make our lives worse by not believing us but I resently started doing little coached meditation when I feel stressed , this after a friend begged me for a year to try , and what do you know it works!!! I even go enside a bathroom if I have to. I send you my love and hope for the best!!!
Hi momma2mm
Sorry to hear that. But I have to say health is more important than anything else.If possible, take days off to rest and totally keep work out of life for a while.
To be honest, after I was diagnosed with lupus, I totally changed my attitude towards work. I am less ambitious about career and try not to travel anymore. I managed my workload to minimize chance of flares caused by work. But I also understand if you have to support family financially, you need a job but you are most precious to your family.
It just seems like the traveling wears me down so bad, I end up getting super sick. Now I'm going to have to go on yet another round of antibiotics due to a massive sinus infection that I didn't have when I left, but have now. Last time was bronchitis. I've tried explaining to my boss about it, but even in researching the disease, he still doesn't 'get' it. Heck sometimes, I don't even think I get it. I think I'm still in denial :)
What type of diet are you doing? I would be interested in the do's and dont's of food!
Thank You...add me as a friend or something so I can get some info?
